Crazy times ahead for TSU. This is some crazy ..it. 100%. I hope, those at TSU and the BOG, remember what they did to allow the university to get in this predicament.

And the legislators who were the major players that put us in this predicament. Democrats; Republicans and those that are affiliated for as they say "not Knowing'. What really confuses me, is some of the past presidents knew about the mis-appropriations; Dr.'s Davis, A.P Torrance, Floyd, Hump; Hefner all fought tooth and nail for equal funding. Dr' Floyd fight started the fight the Floyd - Payne Center - finished by Dr. Hefner; underground utilities and other improvements. And they had staff in place to monitor funds that involved TSU, without a BOG. Dr. Johnson, was able to secure "Billion's" for TSU, had something to do with President Obama - can't remember the exact details. Dr. Floyd: Worked with the Legislators, to secure over 100 Million from the legislators - TSU had nearly 95K Students The other sad part is" There were several Legislators, that were graduate of TSU. To my memory there was only two or three that always stood up for TSU.

Why wouldn’t the Governor simply replace the ineffective board members once their term expires? Well, that's the million dollar question for the handful of republicans that are leading the charge. The Governor will automatically have the authority to appoint a new board on June 30th. To vacate the BOT at 11:59PM on June 29th simply shows they are creating a false power move in my opinion. I'm not sure who they are trying to appeal to because it doesn't seem to resonate among the greater population of TN as a major issue of interest. Some people were pushing to extend the BOT's term to for one year. I suspect this was a power move to say no way that is happening. Granted, the Governor could reappoint some of the board members, even the entire board if he desires. It has been suggested by a State Representative, who is also a TSU alumnus, that the Governor consider retaining some of the current members to help with transitioning the new president. If he chooses to do that, it'll be interesting to see which members he reappoints. Noted!

I am not seeking a debate! Just stating the facts. The Governor, appoints and approved by the Governor with the consent by the General Assembly. One member is from the Faculty Senate. Per the FOCUS Act - Legislation, which governs all State Universities. The law allows for an independent governing board at the Universities - TBR member universities. The legislation enables the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) to maintain a "sharpened focus" on the state's community and technical colleges, increases autonomy and local control for TBR universities, and strengthens the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The legislation includes a restructuring of the Tennessee Board of Regents, which establishes local governing boards for the universities under the oversight of TBR, that allows TSU and the other universities' to establish its own governing board. Vacating the board - eliminating the BOG period is the intent. However, this may or may not happen. Instead, there is negations' underway to replace a few. Unilt, a new BOG is appointed. Which should be within the next three to five months. Lawmakers Move to Reconstitute an HBCU’s Board www.insidehighered.com/news/government/state-policy/2024/02/08/lawmakers-move-reconstitute-tennessee-state-u-board I am not looking for a debate either. There is not a reason to debate because it has implications beyond Tennessee State University. I simply asked a question for further clarification.
