But we all know, that if Penny has a winning record, Allen is going to keep him, right?! Maybe, IMO, it's really hard to tell we really don't know Dr.. Allen, how he thinks, is he really on board with TSU Athletics. I can say one thing, when he arrive at the basketball games, he takes his seat on the floor, eat his popcorn and watch the game. He really need to start working the fans, to gain some type of support for his vision. I need to see something in writing with projected completion dates 9action plan), fundraising effort, traditionally, TSU has had fundraiser via Athletics Banquet, have not heard anything about it. Solomon said it best Proverbs 29:18 “Without vision, the people perish” TSU without a vision will exist, but slowly Perish When Dr., arrived on campus, there was a "lot of noise from him" again IMO, as of this moment, he is just like a cloud in the distance with a lot of thunder, no rain. But, there is still time, If he decide to keep Collins, as today is Tuesday, January 31, 2023. I will send him a letter. There is a lot of work to do. Dr. Allen is approachable, tho. You can go up to him and rap with him for a second. I've seen several folks go up to him during timeouts of basketball games. And I love how he's amongst the crowd at the games. But I have to agree with you, there was a lot of noise, but no clear definitive plan to alums. However, he is getting some things done, but monies must be coming from outside resources because I haven't been asked to give towards a financial goal with a timetable.

For the record Slay was never recruited by TSU. His words. He told me how disappointed he was they did not recruit him, with His mother working there and pearl cohn 2 minutes away. Doesn't mean he would have went to TSU, but TSU for whatever reason did not recruit him. I doubt he's interested in coaching. Hard to believe Slay wasn't recruited by TSU, but then again, maybe it’s not.

Don't look now, but Penny is off the mat swining haymakers lol. I'm happy for him and this team, hope they can remain hot! They've fought their way back to a 5 way tie for 2nd place. If we can beat Morehead Thursday, we retain second place with less teams and will be a game behind Morehead for 1st place. Kudos to Penny, staff and players!

Lol, I was thinking something similar yesterday. Coach Collins going to make me eat crow. I'm okay with that. I might have to go ahead and get my tickets to Evansville now.

Yeah, but am not eating crow, maybe a Fish Sandwich. I was talking wing a few people at the game, they said if he come up with a winning record - he may get a 1-2 year contract extension with stipulations. I don't have a problem with a 1-2 year extension and long as TSU is winning.

He has us playing well right now. Of the 4 teams that we are tied with, we split with 2 and the other 2 beat us in the first matchup, so we will have to continue winning. We should control our own destiny though, so keep winning and we can go as far as we want.

The man's record is 54 - 77 after five (5) years at the helm of the TSU men's basketball program, ouch!. No OVC championships and no NCAA appearances. Should any coach expect to be retained or any AD retain a coach with that record. The fanbase deserves better. Sometimes tough decisions have to be made. Think about it this way, if his record was reversed and he was a hot prospect on the coaching circuit, do you think he would hesitate to leave, ala Coach Dana Ford, for a higher salary and a higher profile position? If that were the case, he would leave and we would understand if he chose to do so. It's a two way street and the AD has to think about the fan base.

I get your point. I'm still uneasy with him. But if he keeps the team rolling like this up to the big dance, I'm not going to keep saying he has to go now.
Now if Allen got somebody in mind that he thinks is ready to go a step further at the end of the season I'm not going to be hurt by him pulling the trigger.

Big Mike, your point is valid. I was ready for TSU to move on after last season. However, I would be remiss if I didn't give credit to him and the staff for how the team is playing currently. Should this be Penny's last year, I would love to see him end on a strong note. If it's not, we will need to continue to see this kind of play. I don't hate Penny the person, just not sure he's ready to lead the program to where we want to go. However, I would love for him to prove me wrong!

I think he's safe, but he needs to win a couple of more games for me. Going 16-16 won't cut it as far as I'm concerned.

He’s 57-66 (.463 win percentage) not including COVID year (everyone has to agree COVID year was hell for everybody). Not including COVID year, Penny has the 2nd best win percentage since Ed Martin. Yep, that’s right! Without COVID year, Penny has a better record than Frankie Allen. He is only second to Coach Ford (.467).
As much as I’m on Penny, those are the facts.

It would be nice if they could make an OVC tournament run and make it to the big dance.
The kid he has coming out of E. Nashville is the real deal.

I am big on facts and doing your research. Bottom line is he is doing better than our perception. He is a good cheerleader and seems to connect with the student body which should be part of the job description. Yeah let's hope he can make a run in the tournament and get to the big dance. We may see 20 wins!!
