Need someone with a different vision, coaching style / mentality and mature. Someone that has coached at a P5 Program, no more small homeboys, friends, fraternity brothers, attached to TSU or any HBCU.
John Thompson III or G G Smith and Daryl Walker {UALR}, applied for the job in the past but was not selected. During one hiring period TSU had an opportunity to hire someone that was affiliated with the Lakers, true he was older and that was used against him and that he could not related to the "Younger" generation.
I am open to a non-AA Coach - just get the job done.

Just curious. If Collins goes, what about Kenny Anderson? The record is not that great, but they had a lot of fight against us.
Actually, since I'm sitting here watching sec network, what about Ron Slay?

I’m not high on Anderson. I follow him on Twitter; cool guy and I’m a fan, but he seems unstable a little.
And in regards to Slay, I don’t think he’s coached college before, and I’d rather not take that chance.

And in regards to Slay, I don’t think he’s coached college before, and I’d rather not take that chance. Agree And Slay, IMO is a joke, though he was raised on TSU's Campus. He and his mom decided he would do better at UTK, when he signed. UTK hired his mom to work with the UTK Cheerleaders, so Ron would be happy. TSU, need someone with name "some" recognition, maybe professional of semi-professional, P5 experience, Assistant Coach, someone that can work the community / fundraiser. With a good supporting staff. And TSU need to stop focusing only on AA Coaches or those affiliated with HBCU. I am sure since TSU can hire EG, they can do the same for other sports. 2023 Basketball Coach Hot Seat should be full of Head and Assistant Coaches. I still remember, many years ago. TSU had an opportunity to hire good coaches [Anderson, assistant to NR2 when he left Arkansas, Leonard Hamilton, now at Florida State, and failed because of being "Narrow-minded" And if people can think back far enough, Rick Byrd, was an assistant under Pat Head [UTK] applied for the job and was turned down, he had an assistant [forgot his name 'I thinl last name was Strong" the applied for the job at TSU and was turned down. Problem: TSU is focusing only on Football, not realizing Basketball with the right coach, can be a money maker. At TSU, it is, wat it is. And some wonder why

But we all know, that if Penny has a winning record, Allen is going to keep him, right?!

But we all know, that if Penny has a winning record, Allen is going to keep him, right?! Maybe, IMO, it's really hard to tell we really don't know Dr.. Allen, how he thinks, is he really on board with TSU Athletics. I can say one thing, when he arrive at the basketball games, he takes his seat on the floor, eat his popcorn and watch the game. He really need to start working the fans, to gain some type of support for his vision. I need to see something in writing with projected completion dates 9action plan), fundraising effort, traditionally, TSU has had fundraiser via Athletics Banquet, have not heard anything about it. Solomon said it best Proverbs 29:18 “Without vision, the people perish” TSU without a vision will exist, but slowly Perish When Dr., arrived on campus, there was a "lot of noise from him" again IMO, as of this moment, he is just like a cloud in the distance with a lot of thunder, no rain. But, there is still time, If he decide to keep Collins, as today is Tuesday, January 31, 2023. I will send him a letter. There is a lot of work to do.

But we all know, that if Penny has a winning record, Allen is going to keep him, right?! He is 12-11 (4-6) in conference. He had a couple of cupcakes on the schedule as well. I just don't see a winning record on the horizon.

Forgot to come back to this. When I mentioned Slay, yes, it was mostly a joke. But it's hard for me not to wonder if he would do better job with this group. Just listening to his commentary he seems to have some decent thoughts on adjustments.
And honestly, I'm not feeling optimistic about a winning record this season. But, I'll gladly eat crow. When is Collins contract up?

When is Collins contract up? Seriously, a Church Member" mentioned Slay as an assistant, based on he played professionally overseas - never NBA. Just as a he thought Collins and some still do, feel he is the right person for the job at TSU, based on what others said and what's written on the website. My reply was I used to play basketball in the back yard, I thought I was a decent player until Joe King, said "don't call me I call you" Starting with the last game any win goes on Madness record and the loss goes on Collins record

Just think what J.Stackhouse at Vandy could do with the talent Penny had in his 5 years he is a good young coach on both end of the court on this season we would be at top or near.

For the record Slay was never recruited by TSU. His words. He told me how disappointed he was they did not recruit him, with His mother working there and pearl cohn 2 minutes away. Doesn't mean he would have went to TSU, but TSU for whatever reason did not recruit him. I doubt he's interested in coaching.

Honestly, we can only go by what Slay said (right). Just like a relative said TSU never recruited him, he went to UTK - RB Football. Years later, while having a conversation with him he said he never gave TSU a second thought. My favorite words
Not only Stackhouse at VANDY! Look at how Bonzi Wells, is beginning to turnaround Le Moyne-Owens [16-7] and Andre Turner [High School Coach] at Lane. True, smaller programs, but they have fewer scholarship players, smaller recruiting budget, not a lot of transfers, facilities not like Gentry.
My point is simple: Collins, with all the "Resources" is having problems getting the job done. His focus was "recruiting my type of players" we doggone, you have only been an assistant, therefore you don't have a "type of player". After four years, he is still searching for his type of player. I very well could be wrong, but it' just don't make sense for the programs continue be coached with the same pattern-method year after year.
