It’s a very weak schedule. Penny has the top three weakest schedules since Nolan Richardson. Note: I got these stats from Kenpom.com and the 2002-03 season is as far back as they go.

I think at minimum the semis of the OVC tournament, and really the championship game is the expectation.
The league is watered down, and UTM, SEMO and SIUE have all changed coaches since Collins began. If one of them comes in after him and wins the league, that's a bad look.

Definitely just bought himself another year. Probably three if we win the OVC. He has young man committed for next year that he's been posting a lot on Twitter. I'm interested to see how fits in next year. He got a decent bench long as he's developing and discipline them properly.

Well, I wonder who's on Allen's short list.

I wish. But I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Basketball heads, at this point in Coach Penny's tenure is it talent or coaching?
No Belmont, Murray State, APSU or EKU. So what are his teams hurdles and barriers and can he overcome them?

Has to be coaching. Can't think of anything else. His team finished 18-14, but ended the year ranked 290 in Kenpom. For comparison, this year's schedule was so weak, that his first team in 2018-19 won only 9 games, but finished the year ranked 292. Yes. The schedule this year was that bad.
2018-19 9-21 ranked 292 2022-23 18-12 ranked 290

We lose 5 players.
0 Zion Griffin 4 Jr. Clay 10 Adong Makuoi 13 Zool Kueth 20 Dedric Boyd
Not sure what will happen. The team did get hot at a good time this year. However, the weak schedule plus finishing 4th in Penny's 5th year (with no Belmont, Murray, EKU) doesn't feel good. Then we get bounced in the Quarterfinals of the conference tourney. My lean would be a change of direction for the program, but I wouldn't be up in arms if Penny gets another year. I believe he has two strong high school recruits coming in...definitely need to hit the portal for an experienced: point guard, big man, and shooter.
But we need to see progression with the coaching. Talent doesn't seem to be a problem.

IMO just a under performance of a team that has more talent than any of the OVC Teams.
Collins, under performed as a Head Coach in a majority of his responsible areas. While, we are not sure what will happen. Dr. need, to call him in and tell him "Point Blank" to shut and listen ' If I keep you as as the Head Coach, this is what I expect for the 2023 - 2024 Season anything less, you are out as the head coach and I want on my desk by the end of the Months, a list of Goals and Objects.
Now, what do you need to meet those goals. If you feel that it's to much for you, I will accept your resignation!
Collins and Staff, need to be attending the TSSAA Tournament finding a few players to replace some of those that are leaving.
If Dr., decide not to extend Collins contract. I bet he has a replacement in mind

Speaking of, there is a recruiting site that was pretty good with tracking TSU's basketball recruiting, I just can't remember the url. Little help please. It's not 247sports.com. they still have Dana Ford as head coach.

Verbalcommits.com
We have two committed this far; Jones and Beverly(?sp). Two walk-ons; Riggs and Anglin.
If no one leaves, we have three scholarships available.
