Just like to say that this is the worst move-in I’ve ever been a part of… we’ve been sitting in the car for over an hour, waiting to get into the parking lot just to unload our car to move in. They have folks out here helping…apologizing about the wait, but this is horrendous.

I wanted them so badly to have the love for the university that I have. Then I have flashbacks about the registration hell I experienced, and I justify it by saying it made me a better person.. LOL!! I am sure the process has improved since my time at TSU. As for housing or registration they have never had any issues at the universities they attend. So are we lacking resources at TSU or are they not spreading things out enough by moving everyone in at once. This may simply be lack of organization.

Too organized. Better off just spreading out move-in dates and only allowing certain floors every couple of hours.

Assign a day and time slot for your move in is how it is done at other universities. That is not too hard to do.

Just returned from TSU - every parking lor is full, lines and lines of cars families waiting for their turn to move in.
Never seen anything like it.
Back in the day, the only items was a footlocker and a 18 inch Panasonic TV. I think it took me between 45 minuets and an hour to move in. Parents help me move in Watson 1. 6th Floor. Mama said take care, daddy said well I guess we will go. Two telephones in the hall, only one working.

Best Western, is one of the better hotels The Red Roof Inns' are disgusting and nasty. I have been in several around the state and refuse to stay in them. Years ago, there were so many complaints from State Employees, they was removed from the list of hotels to stay. My experience, one in Millington, there were red stains on the bathroom floor and vanity, one in Johnson City, the bed sheets were soiled, look like a fella and his mistress had a good time, one in Chattanooga, the bed had not been changed, red spots on the sheets (think what that was). Had some guest to come in town, only place they could get a room, was the hotel near Trousedale Lane, went to check it out, no was it smelled and trashy. TSU students in hotels dealing with car break-ins, commute to campus ahead of semester fox17.com/news/local/tsu-students-in-hotels-dealing-with-car-break-ins-commute-to-campus-ahead-of-fall-semester-tennessee-state-universityNASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — For another semester, Tennessee State University is putting students in hotels because there isn’t enough on-campus housing. FOX 17 News mapped it out. Of the six hotels where TSU is housing students, it’s 10 miles to La Quinta and 12 miles to the Ramada Inn. That’s where TSU student Janae McCall is living. “I was in Best Western last fall. I was in House of God last spring and then now I’m here at the Ramada,” McCall said. The entire, administration should be ashamed of themselves, 5000 Students, living off campus - daymn shame. 120, The Red Roof Inn that our students are staying in was a different property before it became a Red Roof. A friend sent me pictures/videos of the room that the daughter of one of his friends (also a TSU alum) is staying in at Red Roof Inn. She loves her room. She opted to pay an extra fee to have a room to herself. She's in room that has two queen beds, what looks to be a renovated bathroom, desk area, small refrigerator, microwave and nice sized flat screen TV mounted on the wall. That is better than anything in Wilson, Boyd, Watson or Eppse. She said the school arranged for a DJ to be in the lobby playing music when students arrived and they had food and beverages sitting out for students and family members to eat as students checked in. She also noted that there was a security officer on site.
She thinks it's a small percentage of students that just want to be on campus that are complaining. She said that most the students that she's spoken to in the hotel are perfectly fine with it. Some even prefer it over what they might have ended up in on campus, like three students to some of the rooms in Wilson.
I've stayed in both Red Roof Inns and Holiday Inn Express for quick little weekend trips in places that didn't have many hotel options. The new Red Roof Inns are fine. Especially if they are new build. Same thing with the Holiday Inn Express. Now, some of the older HIE properties are downright filthy. I checked into one a few years ago and immediately checked out. Didn't even care if they charged me for one night even though I was in there all of a hot minute.

DC
"Years ago"
Today, 2022 Red Roof Inn's, are better, that's because at one time a majority were being closed and re-open under new ownership.
I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, "years Ago" and ended up with a rash, as did two relatives. Am I saying all of the Holiday Inn Express are bad, no.
The “Cleanliness" of "Hotel Rooms" depends on the attitude of the hotel management.
The fact is, TSU continues to shoot themselves in the foot. As one reporter asked the TSU Administration, why did you admit more students than you have housing for. Thus, far TSU has not responded with an answer other than "Cookiecuttter Statement"
I am going back a few years ago, when we all agreed after several incidents on campus. We all was in agreement, Dr. Glover need to pay closer attention to the needs of the university.
Whenever, I witness the same issue over a period of time. I am reminded of the following scripture.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24
And I recall Dr. Glover saying something like. I look at the students like they are my children!, the parents entrusted me with their children.
Now I am thinking!

Did this student even reach out to TSU with their concerns prior to contacting FOX News? It just seems that these student have become external complainers without actually taking action directly with TSU. If this is an issue why are they not banning together and addressing these issues with the administration? I've not seen anything that sustains such an effort. Just one offs. I applaud the FAMU football team for banning together and issuing a letter to their President and Trustees to detail their concerns. Hell, they've hired a lawyer. Does the SGA not represent student issues and concerns anymore?

DC That's a good question. I honestly try to give the university the benefit of doubt, but the housing problem is a problem year after year. I am not sure if the Left Hand knows what the Right Hand is doing. The news caster, said she reached out to TSU about the student. Their reply was "Who is the student" Now, this is my concern, this young lady is a "TSU Student" and you have no idea of her current status. The administration, should know - should know the status of every student. Now I am beginning to rethink, about the student from Chicago, who said TSU had him enrolled, but he was not. This is what's on TSU website Alternate Housing Options Tennessee State University does not require its students to live on campus at any point of their academic career. In recent years, the University has consistently reached capacity of its on-campus facilities, forcing students who have delayed in submitting their housing application to reside elsewhere. If you find yourself applying late or wish to find off-campus accommodation, feel free to visit the following websites for alternative housing options: Search under Short Term Accommodations. Why list those facilities on the website. www.tnstate.edu/housing/alternatehousing.aspxThe administration, need to get a handle on this situation.
