If we were to go FBS what would be the means of offsetting the extra cost of being fbs? Does the revenue sharing in a conference such as sunbelt really justify the extra cost. Not against the move, just trying to get a better picture of what we really gain, outside of prestige. TV money

It is official!!! We can start speculating on conference affiliation and FBS and it is not so far fetched anymore... Which is more likely?? ASUN then jump to FBS ASUN and stay FCS SWAC go FBS with SWAC schools FBS independent and then go Sunbelt or Conf USA One of the above may happen sooner that later based on his comments and the desire to build a major league stadium on campus.... Lets not forget hockey. ASUN to the FBS is the most likely out of these scenarios. When you look at the SWAC, not all members will be able to make that jump ( namely Valley, UAPB, Alcorn, Bethune, and possibly even Grambling ) wouldnt be able to make the jump. FAMU JSU Southern Alabama A&M Alabama St Prairie View Texas Southern May be the only SWAC schools who can make that jump. And even those last 4 are shaky as hell, but are helped by the size of the market that they're in.

We are way off from going D1 FBS. First we have to add 3 more sports because you have to have 16 sports. Also because of title 9 I think we have to add 1 or 2 of those 3 in women’s sports. That also means money for scholarships. Second our home game attendance is no where close to 15k and you have to average that for two years. Third we would need an upgrade in facilities. You can’t compete with those schools and athletes stay in Boyd hall. You can’t compete when the locker room for football can’t even house the entire team. I like that the AD and Coach George are addressing the facilities but I really like Deion’s approach to FCS. He doesn’t even speak on it anymore. He concentrating on making the football team a major competitor he is getting the facilities taken care of. If you notice he hasn’t mentioned FBS lately. He is mentioning leveling the playing field. Honestly, TSU has never had a plan to move up to FBS. If you develop a plan, you do a root cause analysis of the gaps that will prevent you from achieving that plan, then come up with solutions to help you get there. 1) TSU needs 3 sports huh? Easy - Baseball - Women's soccer - Women's bowling Done. 2) 15K in a 2 year average - Schedule homecoming at the end of September / early October ( highest attended HCs in recent years have taken place during that time, when the weather was still very warm ) - Have a huge promotion that coincides with the JMC. Goal: 18K people - So even if you only draw 6K at the hole for OVC games, a HC game with 25K people + the JMC with 20K, will get you to that 15K average mark Done. 3) New facilities - Do like APSU, and tear down all of your old dorms, and replace them with brand new ones. If that comes from the state money, so be it. - Use Eddie's name to bring in corporate dollars . . . which is why he is there. - Move all games to Nashville SC soccer facility, which will hold 30K people. Done. Deion wants to level the playing field, but would not hesitate to encourage Jackson St to move up to FBS level, especially if it's the first HBCU school to do so.

TV money, understood. But is the sunbelt really making that much off TV revenue? I'm willing to bet that the SWAC or OVC, if it wasn't on fire, could have worked a close to sunbelt TV deal without adding the extra stuff. Just my belief.
Now I'm not against positioning ourselves to take on tougher opponents, but I'm just not running to jump fbs yet.

The Sun Belt is doing very well for itself these days. sunbeltsports.org/news/2021/7/22/general-sun-belt-espn-expand-media-rights-partnership.aspxPlus they have 3 very good teams in that conference: Coastal Carolina ( ranked #16 ), App State, and Louisiana. All 3 may be ranked by the end of the year, especially if App State or Louisiana knocks off an undefeated Coastal.

Good interview. They ducked the obvious, conference alignment, but that’s expected. Their discussion helps strengthen my assumption that we will remain in the OVC until we go FBS or find a conference that’s on that same projected plan.
I just want to know when we’re playing UT and OSU for a big payday.

I did appreciate the history lesson as to how she became coach. And do enjoy how Eddie seems to be embracing an trying emphasize history that he and his players stand on.

I do think Cheeseborough and the track team are getting the short end of the stick. With more OVC championships than any other Tiger program and the rich history of the Tigerbelles, she should have a high class facility…at least the best in the OVC.
But she did come off a tad abrasive. Maybe it’s because I'm not in favor of cutting scholarships. She mentioned that multiple times, which means she possibly uses it as a scare tactic with kids. Not a good look in my opinion. I also do not like that she doesn’t recruit long distance runners. I know many of you are saying, well…she’s won 9 OVC championships. Well, most of those are indoors where they focus mostly on sprinting events. In the meantime, the cross country team is a cellar dweller, and has been for years.

She came off to me a Old School and no non-sense... The scholarship thing does sounds harsh yet it teaching kids accountability. When you enter into an agreement you must uphold your end of the bargain.

When she won the 9 championships with the Tigerbelles, they were finishing close to the top 3 even when they didn't win.
They are more recently not have been close. She has been over the flying tigers for at least 10 years, she hasn't been even close.
She needs to have a fairer opinion of herself.
She won 9, but the 10th chip seems so far away.

Not sure when the Flying Tigers were last relevant... This may be due to funding. I have no doubt she is a good coach but the best coaches must have funding.
