Who is the other recruit you're looking at besides jaylen Jones? Speaking of, there is a recruiting site that was pretty good with tracking TSU's basketball recruiting, I just can't remember the url. Little help please. It's not 247sports.com. they still have Dana Ford as head coach. There was a long kid...SF/PF type from Cali that committed. I thought he signed. Just looked on verbal commits, name is Zyvier Beverly. He's a little raw but if coached up he could be a steal! Again, talent isn't the problem. Saw some improvement in coach this year, to be fair to Penny. However, in year 5, I just expect more. I'll leave it at that..don't want to beat him down. I'm sure he wants to win.

I think at minimum the semis of the OVC tournament, and really the championship game is the expectation. The league is watered down, and UTM, SEMO and SIUE have all changed coaches since Collins began. If one of them comes in after him and wins the league, that's a bad look. Well, SEMO has a chance. Doesn't look good when a coach that came in after you knocks you off on the way to the title.

On Coach Collins. We can't do the same thing and expect a different result. That's insanity. "Just sayin"

I believe firing a coach after 2 years is insane (unless he was involved in some sort of scandal). But, it does show that you'd better produce sooner rather than later.

I'm sure the fight AP got in with North Florida didn't help either. It spilled off the court into the locker rooms. Not saying I blame the coach for the kids fighing. However, if there were AP supporters or administrators that wanted to get rid of him, I'm sure they used this incident, along with their overall record.

Believe, it or not Dave Loose, have a lot to do with the hiring and firing. Remember, back when he was retiring Bubba [APSU Assistant] applied for the job Loose was the AD and said "No how no way" Bubba, further expressed an interest in the TSU job and was told that if he applied for the job and was hired he would not be considered for the APSU Hall of Fame.
Bubba, was the recruiter!
I met James and his staff, at a TSU game at Gentry. One of them asked how was the climate at APSU. Yes, I told them what happened to Bubba. I asked them how did they like APSU and Clarksville - they loved it "Right". several of us laughed and said we will see.
I felt at teh time that he would not last long.
I don't think this is true, some of the "Good People" thought he had to many AA on Staff"

It is odd that in a day where many programs are hiring their alums, Bubba wouldn't get a shot. I wonder if he will apply now.

Yeah, I don't think this is a reason to fire a winning coach...but it definitely can help close the door on a losing coach.
