AP and EKU had better beg for forgiveness and come home... Well AP left on good terms... So how much hard ball does the OVC play. Which schools should they reach out to.
BTW.. Lindenwood put up 52 points on Central Arkansas in a winning effort.

She keep trying to not take from other conferences, she's going to lose her's. Also, with the way she described that alliance seem like somebody wants to be able to stand on their own soon. If she's smart, she'd better. I don't know if any teams are joining the ASUN next year, but of the 6 current teams, one (Kennesaw) is leaving and 3 others are original OVC teams. If I were her, I'd try to snatch them all before they appoint a new commissioner. Go East/West and call it a day.

That leaves: North Alabama Central Arkansas AP EKU These teams are better than those left over in Big South

I agree.
And mergers happen all the time in the business world, with the larger company acquiring the smaller company. If Beth is a go-getter, she could (and better if she wants to hold on to the OVC) make this happen.
Something like this:
West - Central Arkansas, SEMO, Lindenwood, Eastern Illinois, North Alabama
East - TSU, TTU, Austin Peay, UTM, EKU

I still wouldn't like it long term 😆 but since we don't appear ready to move, this would at least stabilize the league until we do move.

APSU and EKU more than likely will not come back to the OVC if for no other reason because it will just look bad because they left for what they believed was a conference better than the OVC and more aligned with their plans, whatever that is....
The only way the ASUN survives in football is for several D2 schools in Georgia to move up to D1 or the Big South schools join them (which would be in opposition to their plans to merge with the OVC in football). Otherwise the ASUN returns to being more about basketball more than anything else. I'm pretty certain that is not what EKU wants. I don't think APSU wants that either.

You're probably right, their pride might not allow them to come back. But if they're about business, they'll recognize what's going on and see that in the short term, the OVC is better than what they have right now.

Based on my research and dialogue with presidents/chancellors and commissioners over the years, yes. They understood this was a possibility. In fact, for many this was the plan to eventually move to the FBS level. As such, they were prepared/preparing for the opportunity.

Not sure if they all had a partnership and planned to move to FBS together, but if that was the case, JxSU and KSU sold them out and jumped at an opportunity to move up without the brethren... LOL

I guess this was kind of what I was getting at in my previous post. Jafusthinker, I agree with you that it's the nature of the business, and the reason why developing some semblance of self-sufficiency is important.
