This is probably going to keep happening for a while. Now I'm curious, Hampton should make 13 in football. How far is the CAA planning to expand? Up to 16? Who would be next?

But aren't they also getting Monmouth as well?

The CAA may be anticipating others leaving.
Good for Hampton though, if you're going to leave the MEAC, at least go to the strongest conference possible.
Now I wonder what A&T does. Elon is in the CAA, why not go to the CAA as well.

They're talking about leaving a conference where they couldn't finish any higher than 4th. To join a conference where they probably won't finish any higher than 11th. Sheer insanity

I wouldn't call it insanity. Outside of hbcu supporters, most probably considered that a stronger athletic conference. Maybe they are hoping they can do opposite of TSU and actually build competitive programs. Now, if they manage to start becoming competitive there and other HBCUs are competitive with them, would that not be another good look for HBCUs? Unless there is no belief that they could compete on a level with those schools. Not saying that they should do it, just don't think it's totally insane.

My hope is that TSU and A&T lands in the same conference and that they do not alienate the HBCU world. TSU should be a test case for other HBCUs that want to compete against tougher competition. We have left plenty of examples to follow in both the wrong and right direction. A&T did not have a great season this year. That can happen when you play tougher competition but like TSU of old, the foundation is on solid footing. Maybe we can regain that footing we once had. TSU may not have won a lot of OVC championships, but we have won some. Football, Track and basketball. We may finally have the leadership in place to get back to the glory days. A&T, study our rise and decline and don't repeat our mistakes.

I have no idea what you mean by "So stay in their place?" Elaborate so I can be more precise in my answer to your question.

To avoid going in circles, let me reference your original comment about them going to conference where they will likely finish 11th. Are you saying that they don't belong, they are making a mistake, they aren't good enough to be there, or just pointing out that they have a big hill to climb? I guess what I really want know is what's wrong with them trying a different path?
