We knew we had to play a clean game and execute at a high level. We put some nice plays together here and there on offense, but could not sustain drives, let alone score.
Defense played well early, getting NDSU to 4th down on numerous occasions in the first half. But give NDSU credit, they converted each of those 4th downs and eventually scored. NDSU's offense is so good, they can literally just take what you give them, because you can't take everything away. Their coaching and execution was better (we knew that beforehand).
Just wish we had a better showing on offense. The defense can't play the whole game on the field. They will wear down and good OCs will start finding spots to attack. That's literally what happened.
That said, I think we'll be fine. This game should make us better coaching and playing. We won't see another NDSU in the regular season, but the OVC-Big South has gotten better as a whole. There's a good 6/7 teams playing good ball. So no easy games. But if we come to play and play a full game, we can compete & beat all of them.
Take some time to clean up some things in practice. The OC seemed scared to run the ball in the first half and I think that hurt us. Our RBs didn't touch the ball much. We need to run the ball to keep the defense honest. Also, saw some good play calls but the plays need to be tweaked. Brenson came in motion, got the ball from Draylen, then NDSU's DE was waiting on him unblocked. Keep that play, but you cannot release the DE, maybe time up when you want the TEs to release from blocking the DE. From what I saw, the OC definitely caught NDSU in the right defense, but amend that play to not release the DE and Brenson would've had space to work.
Just gotta lick our wounds and use this game as motivation in practice. NDSU just showed us where our weaknesses are and where we can clean up some things.

All I can say is NDSU is not an FCS team. The Fargodome is closer to an on-campus NFL stadium than a college stadium. How can we possibly compete with a school with facilities like NDSU. Why don't they stop perpetrating an FCS and find a way to move up. The experience was nice and the people are very friendly. Felt like a south hospitality type environment... This lets us know how we stack up against the best system in the land. By system I mean all aspects of putting a product on the field. Denver, did you ride solo?

Our defensive line was knocked back from the original the line of scrimmage all game long. The offensive line tried to open running lanes but were just over matched at the point of attack. The question is, was TSU adequately compensated for the trip and the emotional defeat?

My wife and my youngest son visited The Black Hills in South Dakota (Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Museum) and then headed to Fargo. 14 hours drive on the way back. My son helped drive on the way back..

Gotcha. In that case, I think I spoke to you on my way into the game after you parked. However, hard to tell. More TSU folks than I expected.

That was generous of NDSU, because since they are traveling to Nashville next year, they didn’t have to pay us anything.

If there were 2 areas that disappointed me a little, it was this, and the fact that they looked to have more speed in almost every area. Now granted, some teams really do play fast in terms of their aggression and anticipation; but they made us look slow. If we can't recruit size, at least have some athletes with speed. Their playmakers made us miss constantly...we seemingly have no one who can win in a 1 on 1 situation.

It was so bad the EG had to go out on the field and confront the refs.. IT WAS THAT BAD!!!

I am easy to recognize. Locs pulled back in a braid. Wife has locs as well. I remember speaking on our way in. Next time come introduce yourself. I follow you on Twitter(x). Thinking about going to Lindenwood. Not likely to make Homecoming or DC. Too much chaos for me. I have changed since I have gotten older. Now I just want to see the game. Not Day parties or concerts. But I do enjoy the pep rallies and parade...

But of course, their fans didn't see it that way... From the NDSU fan page:"On-field leadership, in the face of cheap shots and constant trash talk our guys kept their poise like Bohl and Klieman teams of old"."I noticed that too. Even obvious cheap shots like pushing someone's head into the ground while getting up after the play didn't even draw a look. Our guys just went back to the huddle or sideline as if nothing happened"."Absolutely. The correct way to respond to that crap is pretend it never happened and beat them on the next play too. Wonderfully done yesterday".
