Sun Belt Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2017
Georgia State “They’ll be good defensively. They hired a 3-4 guy [new head coach Shawn Elliott] who’s going to run that same system. They were already built for the 3-4 so that should be an easy transition and they were good up front. They had some long guys who could get after you.” “Offensively, they struggled to throw the ball last year. They were okay up front and had a couple good backs, they just had a hard time completing third downs and ultimately that’s what got Trent fired. If he still had the quarterback from two years ago with that defense, he’d still be the coach.” “I don’t see how they can keep going forward with Conner Manning at QB with a new staff, trying to spark it and win some games.” “Moving to Turner Field (Georgia State Stadium), I hope that gets them a little more buzz. It’s a tough job.” athlonsports.com/college-football/sun-belt-coaches-talk-anonymously-about-conference-foes-2017

Interesting, the GaState article mentions the cornerback position being the strongest and deepest on the team. Our receivers may be the strongest and deepest unit on our team. That makes for strength on strength battle! Our receivers will have to come to play and Treon will have to be on point. I think he's up to the task! And I believe our receivers are more than capable!

Did anyone notice the JUCO DE, LaRonzo Davis, is no longer listed on the roster.

Also the weather for Thursday's game now look bleak. Some of the rain from Tropical Storm Harvey will start hitting ATL tomorrow and will likely stick around through the weekend. I believe GSU stadium is grass, don't quote me. This may be bad for the passing game...

Also the weather for Thursday's game now look bleak. Some of the rain from Tropical Storm Harvey will start hitting ATL tomorrow and will likely stick around through the weekend. I believe GSU stadium is grass, don't quote me. This may be bad for the passing game... According to Wikipedia the stadium has FieldTurf. It looks like there's a 90% chance of thunderstorms on Thursday in Atlanta. The chances drop off a bit in the late afternoon/early evening hours, so it may not be a total wash out. But, with the instability of the forecast caused by Harvey, it's hard to predict. The tropical storm leftovers from Harvey will primarily be in northern Georgia, northern Alabama and all of Tennessee. It's not going to be a good travel day from Nashville since pretty much all of Tennessee has 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms all day as Harvey passes through. That will probably hurt attendance for this game even more when you add it to be a Thursday night game.

Thanks DC. That actually makes me feel better about the game, but worried a little for the fans traveling down. Team too, I know they leave tomorrow but I'm pretty sure they may hit some weather too.
