SOLD-OUT: No Tickets Remain for OpenerMike Holmes/Sports Communications 8-30-2017 ATLANTA – It’s a sellout! Tonight is the opening night of college football and the inaugural game at Parker H. Petit Field at Georgia State Stadium and the Panthers opening game against Tennessee State and if you do not have a ticket, it is too late. The last ticket for tonight’s game was sold just after 11 a.m. More than 25,000 fans are expected to pack the stadium for the 7 p.m. kick-off. Fans are also encouraged to be in their seats early for several special pregame festivities that will open the new stadium. Parking lots are scheduled to open at 3 p.m. and the gates will open at 5:30 p.m story link

It's amazing what a new stadium will do to spike interest. I remember when we played our first game in Adelphi Stadium (now Nissan), I believe we had over 30K. That same year homecoming drew just over 42K. Then the newness wore off and reality set in as time wore on. I suspect when our Big Blue Tigers beat the GSU Panthers tonight, realty will set in for them as well.

And TSU went the opposite direction in 2000, we really needed that momentum to keep going.
