HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD.... that just about sums it up. I don't like the switching, but I must admit he has a point. Ellis is being coached up.

I say maybe 14K at the game? LOL . . . that reverse on the kickoff they just ran was absolutely horrible. TSU needs to take complete control of this game, and not let them hang around.
Damn . . . if this was golf, my tee shot would be 2 inches away from the hole.
Attendance: 13,975
And this was against a HBCU, with their band in town.
A study needs to be done as to why Homecoming attendance has dropped so far. I have my theories, but a true analysis needs to be done on this.
14K for a TSU homecoming, on a fairly nice day, is definite cause for concern. At least until they get a temporary jolt in the arm when the new stadium is built.

Once again, a comprehensive study needs to be done as to why Tennessee State football is not appealing to its fan base and the surrounding community.
One of the big knocks against HBCU football, is that people care more about the bands, than the actual football team.
I though the whole point of having the 5 pm start time, was in part, so that people can be out of the stadium before 9 pm, and get to whatever after party they want to hit.
I'm not going to lie, those 7 pm homecoming start times used to kill me, because it made it extremely hard to leave the game and get to whatever party you were trying to hit. If you didn't get there before 10 pm, you were guaranteed to be in a long ass line. Because of that, it had me leaving a few TSU homecoming games that were blowouts, midway in the 3rd quarter.
Then they move the start time back to 6 pm, which was better to be able to watch the entire game . . if it ended before 9 pm.
Now, with the start time at 5 pm, there's really no excuse to not stay and watch the entire game. That game was done a little after 8 pm.
14K should be unacceptable. But do alumni even care anymore?

What's the point of wasting money you don't have to waste on the obvious? People coming in mid second quarter and then leaving out in a herd immediately after halftime speaks for itself. Smh...

I agree with Eddie's answer 100%. None of those guys are consistent, so why stick with one? Go with the guy who may be playing the best at that moment, to give the team a chance to win. Plus, it SHOULD keep both guys sharp throughout the week, because they know that they'll get a series or two to play in the game.

That's not gonna do it either. There literally was no reason not to be there other than "I'm just not going".

That's why TSU need a real QB Coach - who is the QB Coach

Not at kickoff.

Yes it will . . initially. People always go to the "new spot", just to see it.
They still need to figure out what will it take for alumni and people in the Nashville community, to consistently come to TSU games.
Does the football team have to become really good, in order to get people to come out?

I can't lie, it got chilly around kickoff. Of course me, I'm always gonna sneak a "warm beverage" in the game, so a couple of shots and I'm good 👍🏾
There was an older lady in my section who said "I can't afford to get wet and end up sick". That's understandable, so I'll give her a pass.
On the other hand, there was a group of young girls who left, probably because they were cold from not being dressed appropriately. Well, you knew it wasn't but 50 something degrees when you walked out in a halter top and booty shorts, so that's your fault 🤷🏿♂️

What can be done about the attendance? I too expected more. The person I went with was one of the tailgaters too - went to the tent to tailgate with his frat and never actually came in the game, so I saw it first hand. How can we stop it?

Short and sweet ideas - Earlier kickoff time: 2pm or 2:30pm
- Incentives : discounted, free tickets & parking for the Nashville community (parade attendees, little league programs, area high school bands)
I understand there are no quick or singular fixes for this. With that said, I think an earlier kickoff time could help. If we think about our Saturday lineup during homecoming...the parade is at 9am and the game is not till 6pm. I would like to see kickoff pushed up to 2:00pm or 2:30pm. The game tends to go into the night 9/9:30pm. If people are picking between getting ready for the main event they came to homecoming for (partying with friends and old classmates) and the game...we can clearly see what that choice will be. Also, if we could transition those at the parade to the stadium, I think that would help. Adding incentive is essential. While we're trying to grow/expand our fanbase, we may have to give some to get some. Have either discounted or free tickets at the parade (set up a mobile ticket center along the route; near Hale stadium maybe). Build a relationship with the little league programs that play on Saturday mornings. Get them to buy into having their bye week or homecoming on the same week as TSU's homecoming. Give free/discounted tickets & parking for groups over a certain number. Automatically, give tickets to the teams who have bye weeks on the same week as a TSU home game (not just homecoming). -------------- Addressing how we got here....I think there are a couple of big gaps to consider: #1 - TSU is no longer Black Nashville's football team. The Titans are. #2 - TSU alums since the early 90s have no attachment to the football program. #1 Have we ever discussed how the Titans coming to town likely shifted the average Nashville Black fan from TSU to NFL/Titans. No knock to Vanderbilt, but we were the main show in town in the 70s/80s. Between the Titans coming to Nashville, MTSU growing & becoming a FBS program, streaming/online options to watch games, etc...there are a lot of factors that ate away at TSU's Nashville/Middle Tennessee base. I think the Titans may be the biggest of those. I know TSU alums that are Titans season ticket holders and attend every home game. Yet, while some of those same alums have TSU season tickets, it's more for a donation than actually attending games. #2 Alums/Students - While the alums/students from the 40s/50s to the 80s seem to have a healthy attachment to the program...the alums/students from the 90s to present day have no attachment. I think we had a sliver of hope around the Cole Era because we were winning, beating rivals that we had not beaten in years, and had a nice new shiny object (NFL stadium). Once we began losing, both advantages started to fade. You add in the fact that we no longer play any rivals...now you're eating away at your 70s/80s base. We have to find a way to make going to a game a part of the TSU college experience for students, as well as alumni experience for alums. No, we can't guarantee rivals on the schedule, but there's no way none of them are. Going FBS won't fix this either. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge that the Covid Pandemic made things significantly worse. However, our attendance was trending down before it. Just some thoughts. Let's brainstorm ideas that we can send over to the Athletics department to possibly aide in this issue.

The athletic department gave out almost 10K free tickets to metro schools for kids day last season against SEMO and still only had 1,600 in attendance. Free tickets are not the answer.
