FBS schools make very few tickets available to the opposing team. We know its alll about filling your own stadium with your own fans. Thats the theory behind HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE. It should intimidate the visiting team....unless your home team sucks! BUT...UP FIRST

Man, they are hype but winning does that to the fan base. They really are a FBS school but there is no FBS conference close by. Realignment may change that, and geographic area may be a thing of the past. We talk about travel but at the FBS level does that matter anymore?

True but let's not gloss over the fact that it's Fargo. They literally have absolutely nothing else to distract them.

Aggie Pride, handle ya business! Exactly. Tennessee isn't getting 40,000 seats to an Alabama game. AND, there is no "home" and "visitor" side of the stadium. There's the home stadium and the visitors to the home stadium. You get a section. Period.

Why is this turning into a clown on Fargo, ND thread? It's not like all FCS HBCU's are in cities that the world flocks to or desire to visit. And, I suspect most of if not any of us have ever been. People live there for a reason. Just like they do in Baton Rouge, Jackson, Montgomery, Grambling, Prairie View and the great metropolis of Itta Bena.
Pride in their local university is no different than LSU in Baton Rouge, U of Tennessee in Knoxville. While NDSU is no LSU or UT, the people of ND see that school as the marquee school of their state followed by the University of North Dakota which is slightly larger than NDSU. Both have over 14K students.

Just know when we're saying FBS schools are not giving a large allotment of tickets to another school, we probably shouldn't start the comparison with SEC schools that average 100K. Also, I'm not sure any school, big or small is giving a huge allotment of tickets to opponents to come to their home stadium. Maybe, a neutral site game where the school is the host team.
You cannot live off of other schools fans, I think we all can agree there. The point is, you do have to bring in opponents your base wants to see. And if that schools brings a good number of fans, that does not hurt the cause...it actually helps.
Lastly, many of you are well aware that for the longest TSU gave many OVC schools their biggest crowd. So I am not sure some of ya'll believe this narrative, "it doesn't matter who you schedule". It does! Hence the excitement many on this board have with scheduling NDSU (*fingers crossed the deal gets worked out). We did not see this for EWU or Kennesaw State. And both are solid programs. Something about scheduling NDSU or Notre Dame rang some bells though.
Relying on other teams fans, no. Scheduling opponents your base wants to see, yes! Whether it's traditional rival, new rival or a top team. Regardless of any of the prior three, TSU needs to build traditions around it's game day atmosphere. If we don't have 20/30K diehard football fans now, what makes you think 20K will start showing up out the blue. Fanbase/attendance is a mix of diehards, bandheads, tailgaters, and causual/social ongoers. We have to find a way to reel in more locals and alumni. Rebuilding the base is not a one shoe fits approach, although there are factors that can help jumpstart it (winning, playing rivals, etc.).
