Listen, you're either on one side or the other when it comes to the Cole brothers. Y'all who believe they cheated or had some wrong doing, cool. But for us who know what happened, you won't be changing our minds anytime soon. So yes, those names will come up as they should. They're the only ones who got the program to where we could win the OVC.
The BS infractions speak for themselves. The simple fact that both of those OVC Championships still stand is evidence enough that the Cole brothers deserve their accolades. If they cheated as some of you claimed, those championships would've been gone before they lifted the banners. So please stop! The attackers needed an internal person to help their cause and that got that when Valentine lost his job to Leon Murray and became disgruntled. Cole did a hell of a job at TSU and I for one will never forget it! We'd be blessed to see another L.C. Cole!
Now back on topic, what do we do about the current state of our program?

DC you have a very interesting comment here and rightfully so I've been a supporter of TSU for so long I cannot remember my older brothers would take me to the games when I was waste high, all I know is TSU but I would here my older brothers talk (and they attending tsu) in the early seventies they would say some of the same things you mentioned in your comment, about tsu not getting the support they they needed, and they were focueing in on the people that went to school there, they would here alumni be disgruntle even while they were in school and talk about the school, but yet they were getting educated everyday at the same school they dispised. My brothers had co-workers that graduated from TSU but never attending or ever went back to a sporting event let alone football game because that's what we really are talking about but they hated TSU. but yet when my brothers would ask them what the problem was they never could give them a defining answer, you right DC we are our own enemy. I am TSU I support TSU and yes it hurts when things don't go as planned when you want better for the school. and so I understand why some are bitter and angry but we cannot get to wrapped up in the negativity issue. And let me say this we will never know the real inside truth as to why, what when and who of the things that happened on that campus. but we do have to change our mindset on moving forward and just hope that the powers that be make the right decisions (starting with football) on getting this situation turned around. I've been a season ticket holder since I became (grown) LOL and will continue to be a supporter of TSU until I cant. GO BIG BLUE

DC
The truth is most TN State Supporters are sore losers; we expect perfection, especially when it comes to “Football” and “we” expect nothing less. We “TSU” hate to lose to any team from the MEAC, SWAC and Instate Rivals.
We all support TSU, bust hate to lose.
And the sad part is TSU Basketball is turning the corner, but they get very little support from the TN State Community.
Another little known fact was there were some did not want the Coles at TN State, because they were not affiliated with the university.

120, I don't disagree with you. We have fans that do place much more emphasis on our HBCU games. That is part of my point. We should be supportive of TSU regardless of who we're playing. If we ever moved up to the FBS level, what would our fans do? Would a game against FAMU and J-State still be our preferred games? As much as I want to see TSU move up to the FBS level (yes that's my goal for the football team) I have concerns that if we did, just how much support would we get if we ended up in a conference like the Sunbelt, AAC or C-USA? They aren't as sexy as the SEC, ACC, Big 10 etc. We would still be the only HBCU and we'd be playing schools that most are still unfamiliar with. Yet, we would be playing at a level that most if not all schools aspire to participate. But I suspect that far too many of our fans would still be sitting around waiting on a game against an HBCU.
Our fan base (and that of most HBCU's) is very single minded. We don't think big picture. I could careless about being the best HBCU. I want TSU to be the best TSU period. For me that means competing with anyone and everyone we play. Yes, I want us to romp over FAMU, J-State, BCU, and other HBCU's in the ground. But equally if not more so I want us to stomp the skin off of Vandy when we play them and any other school at the FBS level. I want TSU to be feared and revered on the football field, basketball court, track, whatever surface.
we should all hate losing. I don't have an issue with that. My issue is how we so easily turn our backs on the program when things are what we expected. My problem is how we don't financially support the program, but expect high level results. My thing is we get upset for losing to an APSU and act like we are so superior to them, when the reality is APSU supporters made a decision to help rebuild their program and they are now see the benefits of that increased support. Granted, sustaining that support is going to be their next challenge. TSU has always had that challenge and unfortunately we don't step up to face it head on. It's hard to be demanding when your wallet is empty. Our wallet as TSU fans is not only empty, it's raggedy and worn out. Butch Jones' job as head coach at Tennessee is on the line because he knows there's a wallet out there full of money that we'll pay his way to forced retirement. We aren't even a 10th of that level of influence. We just have to hope that our bitching, moaning and groaning will be enough to make change. It is certainly not our financial influence.
To be honest, I really don't care about the debate over the Cole brothers. Having people not want them or any other coach because they are affiliated with TSU isn't really that unusual. That happens every where to some degree. The fact is for whatever reason anyone wants to accept, they are no longer at TSU. They're last two seasons at TSU were winning seasons and yes we won the OVC title. But, we lost in the first round of the playoffs. Their first two seasons at TSU they had losing records overall and in the OVC. So, it's all speculative as to where the program would be if they were allowed to stay or chose to stay. Still debating the Coles is just another testament to our fans being stuck no matter which side of the debate you're on.
