I'm surprised they lasted this long American to review expansion candidates with six Conference USA teams expected to apply for membership The American Athletic Conference is set to consider expansion this week with six Conference USA programs set to apply for membership, sources tell CBS Sports. If all six teams are added to the AAC, it would expand to become a 14-team league once realignment shakes out. The six potential institutions looking to join the American from Conference USA include FAU, Charlotte, North Texas, UTSA, Rice and UAB. It's expected that all six programs will be approved as new AAC members. Going to be a domino effect. C-USA will raid the Sun Belt who will look to the schools trying to move up (A-Sun).
This move would push C-USA from 14 to 8 schools. The Sun Belt only has 10 currently. Going to be interested to see how the pieces fall.

I’m really surprised the American picked those teams. Television Markets along with recruit hotbeds are a driving factor...

Conference USA future in doubt with four teams expected to join Sun Belt next week Concern has emerged that the future viability of Conference USA is "hanging on by a thread" as college football conference realignment continues to play out, sources tell CBS Sports. At issue is what appears to be the impending defection of three Conference USA schools ot the Sun Belt. Southern Miss accepted a Sun Belt invitation on Friday, while Marshall and Old Dominion have yet to formally decide. Those schools, along with FCS power James Madison, are expected to be invited to join the Sun Belt as early as next week. www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/conference-usa-future-in-doubt-with-four-teams-expected-to-join-sun-belt-next-week/
