HAHAHA... mTSU and Western KY are former OVC members!!! I believe UTEP should try to join Mountain West Conference... If an fcs conference could work a reasonable tv contract, I could see WKU moving down. Maybe even MTSU.

www.deseret.com/2021/10/22/22738509/conference-realignment-conference-usa-reportedly-in-discussions-add-multiple-teams-nmsu-sam-houston“We have a strong core of members to build around and are continuing to work to strengthen our league as we move forward,” Conference USA commissioner Judy MacLeod said. “There are several institutions interested in joining Conference USA, both across FBS and FCS, some of whom we’ve already met with in person. Every step we take will be deliberate, strategically sound, and intentional. Sam Houston State, located in Huntsville, Texas, plays in the Western Athletic Conference (SHSU was formerly in the Southland Conference) and is the No. 1-ranked FCS team in the country. The Bearkats won the delayed 2020 FCS national championship in the spring, defeating South Dakota State. Tarleton State, meanwhile, is located in Stephenville, Texas, and also plays at the FCS level, in the WAC. New Mexico State is an FBS independent in football and competes in the WAC for all other sports. NMSU was a member of the Sun Belt from 2014 through 2017, before becoming an independent in 2018.

And here comes the next fcs shake up. I wonder will the WAC be able to continue poaching other fcs conferences if they lose those schools.

Three more C-USA schools expected to leave Concern has emerged that the future viability of Conference USA is "hanging on by a thread" as college football conference realignment continues to play out, sources tell CBS Sports. At issue is what appears to be the impending defection of three Conference USA schools ot the Sun Belt. Southern Miss accepted a Sun Belt invitation on Friday, while Marshall and Old Dominion have yet to formally decide. Those schools, along with FCS power James Madison, are expected to be invited to join the Sun Belt as early as next week. www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/conference-usa-future-in-doubt-with-four-teams-expected-to-join-sun-belt-next-week/

What’s Next for Conference USAPrograms such as Jackson State, Alabama State, Southern, North Carolina A&T and Florida A&M would help keep some semblance of regional cohesiveness. Also, each of the five come from traditional football-hungry locals that have a built-in culture of college football Saturdays. A selection from this group may serve as the league’s best option as movement continues to be fluid. However, as is the case with virtually a majority of HBCU’s, student enrollment averages less than 10,000 students, with Florida A&M boasting the largest HBCU enrollment in the nation (10,856). www.underdogdynasty.com/2021/10/26/22745798/three-things-we-learned-from-conference-usa-week-8-hbcu-college-football-realignment

Im surprised the ivy league hasn't tried harder to get a bowl game with swac or meac. Not like they need the money, but it would be a good look for ivy league and profitable to swac/meac

Stay tuned
“Why wouldn’t we work with historically black colleges and play them?” he told SB Nation. “Take a school like Grambling or Howard vs. Princeton or Columbia or whoever. You’re gonna hit a huge number on TV, and you’re gonna sell it out in Atlanta or New Orleans or Washington DC. Why wouldn’t we want to bring more attention?”
One of the selling points of the Celebration Bowl was the national exposure the game would give the participating schools and conferences.
Grambling State head coach Broderick Fobbs, who has twice led the Tigers to the Celebration Bowl, spoke of all the residual recruiting benefits just being in the game.
“Things have picked up tremendously,” Fobbs said about the surge in interest in the program. “We are a lot more welcome at different places than normal. That speaks to the way our team has played on television and our team has played just in general. Our coaches are very well respected because they do an exceptional job of teaching.
“You can’t get any better exposure on our level than this particular football game. The opportunity to play on ABC, the opportunity to be the first bowl game of the season in a huge area, a nice venue, you can’t beat that,” Fobbs said. “At the end of the day, it’s about recruiting, it’s getting students to your campus, it’s about getting exposure.”
Will we one day see Grambling vs. Princeton? Howard vs. Penn? At least one voice in the Ivy League believes it could be a possibility."

AS THE FCS WORLD TURNS...
My original thought was for TSU to join the SWAC and how cool it would be for the MEAC and SWAC to team with IVY and Pioneer for bowl games... No one pays attention to the playoffs.. But that is not an option for us now so IT IS WHAT IT IS...

Report: MAC could land death blow to Conference USA A reported move from Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee might just end C-USA as we know it. ZACH BARNETT In this latest round of conference realignment, thus far the MAC has been Switzerland. Sure, the ACC, the Big Ten, the Pac-12 and the Mountain West have also seen their membership numbers stand pat, but the first three formed THE ALLIANCE and the Mountain West had to fend off an attempted raiding from the American. footballscoop.com/news/report-mac-death-blow-conferece-usa-middle-tennessee-western-kentucky

FBS independents Liberty and New Mexico State and FCS members Jacksonville State and Sam Houston “will likely” join Conference USA as all-sports members, sources told The Action Network Nine schools already have announced they would leave C-USA, while Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee “likely” will join the MAC, if approved by the MAC Presidents, sources told The Action Network on Monday. “Conference USA wants to get to eight or nine members,” an industry source said. “If the MAC doesn’t expand, then C-USA will have nine members and could be done.” SO THE ASUN GETS THE SHAFT...
