...Other than the obvious dissatisfaction with TSU's loss, What would You like to "Vent About"
For me, I don't even no where to start, But I guess I'll start with the Band...The WORST PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR...On the field and in the stands!!!!!!!!!!!!
Attendance!! 21,000, Isht! The way the crowd and the traffic was controlled by the Police when trying to get into the stadium, you would have thought there were gonna be 100'000 attendees...My sister and brother in-law sit in traffic from 3:30 until 4:30 but made a mistake and turned into the pre-paid (parking pass) area and were literally sent back to start it out all over again...They just decided to go on back home...I wonder how many more instances were like this.

Also, the band has been up and down for a while. Not sure what I expect anymore. They were good in ATL for the Georgia State game. I didn't get to see their performance last night.

I am sick and tired of Reed’s excuses week after week and year after year. If you know what the problem is “FIX IT”
Parker, he is not an OC, never have been and never will be. I have seen better play calling from some of the Jr. Pro Coaches. One day, if Reed doesn’t make a change, Parker is going to get him fired, Band, was worthless for HC.
A few things happened on campus during the parade and shortly after the game. One family from out of town, the husband told his daughter after the parade “start packing I am taking you home”
This was the most disgusting homecoming; I have ever in my 45 plus years of being affiliated with TN State
I was setting by to former player and their families; both said who is the OC and what is he calling. Both families left at the “beginning” of the fourth quarter. Parker, need to be given his pink slip at the end of the season.
It’s sad, that the City of Nashville continue to take advantage of “TSU” the JMC and Homecoming...

This was also my "worst homecoming" since 1972...I am SOoooo tired of going thru the same ole same ole with TSU, It is also having a "negative" effect on our kids and grandkids who are the future of TSU.

bluetigga, A much bigger and larger event the SHC doesn't seem to have as many problems as our JMC and Homecoming, Maybe TSU needs to go and seek some advise from someone. Well, the SHC has a history of it's subjects coming in the game because you have two HBCU and people want to see the bands. TSU's homecoming has been about the tailgate for a while now. If you aren't a football fan, a freshman, or involved in an organization that's at the game, chances are you're staying outside to tailgate. We face a different issue than the SHC in my eyes. Our fans just don't come in, even if we played an HBCU, I'm not sure some would come in. It's a unique atmosphere at TSU. But there's a PR team somewhere who could turn that around.

Actually, it's an issue facing practically all HBCU's right now. Over the years I've seen this discussed on several message boards. The reason why it's an issue in my opinion is we allowed our games to become hi-jacked by party atmospheres instead of being about the football game. And, to some degree I blame the Classics for this issue. Here's why.... 1. Classics are events that "include" a football game. They aren't events that are about a football game. 2. Classics promote the atmosphere over the game. The game is simply a back drop to the atmosphere. 3. Classics are revenue streams (i.e. concerts, luncheons, dinners, tailgating, parties, etc.) 4. Classics promote band competition over gridiron competition. Thus the mass exodus after halftime. 5. Classics are socially driven, not football driven. So, when you look at those aspects of Classics, you don't have a focus on the football game itself. Which is ironic because without the game, you don't have a Classic. But, the game is being used as the sole purpose for doing all the things that go along with the Classic. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that there is also value in the Classics for the participating schools. Exposure and general recruiting being the primary value. Followed by increased revenue for the participating schools in the form of guaranteed payout, which is typically higher than if the two schools played a home and home series. But, I wonder if the value of those things have cost our schools in terms of building a solid fan base. Classics also have a tendency to create fans of the event, not fans that support the participating schools. Classics also have a tendency to reduce local fan support because local fans will have one less (sometimes two less) home game to attend. That causes local fans to wane and become disconnected over time. Especially when one of the top rival games is always being played away at a neutral site. For local alumni and other supporters they are also forced to make decisions regarding travel plans (transportation, hotel, food, events, etc). If they have children, they have to decide if they can take the kids. If not then they have to make arrangements to have someone look after their kids. If you are a student, you may have to decide if you can miss a day of class to travel. Then you have to decide if you can afford staying overnight. You also have to decide if your going to take a bus if there is such an option or if you're going to drive. For alumni who do not reside in the city or state where the school is located, they have to decide if they are going to do a Classic versus homecoming versus other home games. Now, I don't blame Classics alone for issues surrounding attendance at HBCU football games. There are a hosts of other issues that impact the attendance as well. Starting with inadequate resources to promote games. If there are adequate resources to do promotion the promotions are poorly done. The HBCU connectivity to the community that once supported it is dwindling. Trying to reach a new market using the same methods used in the 60's, 70's and 80's just isn't going to work. Competing against the almighty high profile FBS programs (not the mTSU's of the world) that the NCAA allowed to dominate and control TV markets. Most HBCU's are in markets and regions that are dominated by high profile FBS programs. And, since recruits are drawn primarily to those programs first, our talent pool is not considered top of the class. HBCU's and FCS programs alike are basically getting leftovers that are not draws at the gate. Sponsors have reduced their level of support to HBCU sports. They are basically providing "good will" support. They aren't focused on the HBCU brand anymore because the HBCU brand has such a limited fan base which means a lower return on their sponsorship dollars. I also think the decrease in the number of males enrolled at HBCU's has hurt HBCU sports as well. While I'm very supportive of females attending college and in no way would want their numbers to decline, their increase matched with a decline in males students enrolled creates a climate that isn't as supportive of sports. I'll end this commentary of sorts, but I think there are much broader issues impacting TSU's attendance and issues. It's not unique to TSU. I would hope that Presidents and AD's at HBCU's would gather for the sole purpose of addressing these issues. But I suspect they have not and will not. If they have, I'd like to know what actions came from such a meeting.

There are schools that have specific groups for women to get them more involved. The girls are outside tailgating so they guys are out there too.

Ro, I don't disagree with you at all. In no way was I suggesting that women don't like sports. I'm very much aware of all that you stated. All I'm saying is the decline in male enrollment is one of many factors that has impacted game attendance at TSU and other HBCU's. probably not one of the bigger factors. So, I agree that women like and support sports. But by in large men still watch and support sports more. Maybe we need to do more to get women more involved and get them in the stands and bring their guys with them. We also need to get the men more involved and bring their ladies in with them.

It's a problem that's going to have to be solved soon or we face a bigger issue than winning on the field.

I recall, when the attendance start dropping, years ago. Fred Jones “SHC” offered his assistance and he was figuratively speaking Smacked in the Face.
One of the main problems is the Nashville Community, does not support the university, unless its homecoming. Then they are looking for a handout.
The lack of males, I don’t think this is the problem. There is a deeper problem and only the university can solve. Other than being
I am not sure, if you can make someone that is Tailgating, to watch the game. As part of the tailgating fee, they should be required to purchase a minimum of one ticket.
