I don't know if anyone else noticed this during the TSU/CSU game, but during timeouts there weren't many actual commercials. There was the TSU commercial, the OVC commercial and I think a commercial from the KY Wildlife Office or something along those lines. But there are no commercials for local businesses supporting TSU like you see with other schools. Instead during some of the breaks they just showed fans sitting in the stands.
If my observation is accurate, then that tells me we don't have any real sponsors of TSU football. No restaurants. No law offices. No medical offices. No retailers. No car dealers. No grocery stores. No media sources.
TSU at the very least should have Amazon, Bridgestone, Cracker Barrel, Dollar General, Kroger, Publics and Nissan. I also think they need small local companies like Prince's Hot Chicken, Slim & Husky's, Swett's, The Tennessee Tribune, 92Q. And, with all the hotels in Nashville you can't tell me that we can't go after the Hilton and Marriott brands to sponsor TSU football/athletics.
There are just too many businesses in Nashville for us to not have greater sponsorship.

Hopefully corporate and small business sponsorship is part of the strategic plan.

I noticed it too DC. I saw their package of sponsorship back in 2021. Coming from a business perspective, the package steers you to signage throughout campus or at games, although the initial inquiry was about commercial/advertisement on ESPN+. It was really tough trying to get info for espn+. I hope it’s easier now. And the packages were really expensive for a small businesses.
Getting sponsorship dollars is something that really needs to be worked on by the athletic department and future president. They can start by opening up communication with those mentioned by DC.

Or, is it that potential sponsors do not believe that sponsorship of TSU is profitable for their businesses?

It could be due to ESPN+ because at other home games there have been commercials. The broadcasts generally aren't consistent across the platform, with some other schools it just shares a static screen that says its on a commercial break.

So...Oh really! is this something new with ESPN+. I watched a couple of HBCU games over the weekend. The weather was great, but low, low attendance. Oh well!

He didn't mention it specifically related to ESPN; but when he talked about advertising in Nissan/Gentry, he said that the first thing companies look at is attendance (how many potential customers are going to see this advertisement?). So if attendance is low and viewership is low, companies may be putting us on pause.

I don’t know about football, but our basketball team has/had the highest viewership on ESPN+ in the OVC. This was a couple of years ago.
