I am so proud of these guys and what they are doing with their business venture. I hope other African Americans, especially TSU grads in Nashville become part of the growth and development of Nashville. You can't stop gentrification, but you sure as hell can benefit from it and change its impact on the community if you become part of the solution. These guys decided they were going to be part of the solution.

While in Nashville for Thanksgiving I went to Slim & Husky's for lunch on Friday. The place was PACKED. I must say I really enjoyed it and recommend everyone to go if you live in Nashville or will be visiting. The pizza I had was really good. Others that were with me also said they really liked their pizzas as well. We all did one of their specialty pizzas which you can add toppings to if you like. They also have a build your own pizza option. They have bottled drinks, wines and they only sell beers from local breweries in TN (good move for building a customer base), so don't ask for a Bud... LOL The atmosphere is cool as well. The dinning is communal. There are no separate tables. But it was fine. A little tight but it just adds to the communal atmosphere. They play R&B and some Hip Hop music. There's also outdoor dinning and plenty of parking. The service was really good as well. The employees really seem to take pride in their work and enjoy working there. One thing that I really loved was the box they have to put leftover or take-out pizzas in. They have some many things printed on the box related to TSU. It's really cool.

I live in Antioch and can't wait until they open up their next location at the old Applebee's location right next to Global Mall aka Hickory Hollow Mall. I salute those brothers...

That would be great. However, I hope they can maintain the style of their first location. Being consistent is important. Next time I'm there I'll try On A Roll, their other venture which is opening across the street from S&H.

It’s packed everyday.
Everyone should remember the young man on the right of the picture. That’s Clint Gray Jr, he played at TSU.

Love it! Sounds like they are have an aggressive plan and business model. If you're going to be aggressive you also have to make sure you hire the right people to manage your operations in a manner that maintains your brands image consistently. That is going to be critical as the expand outside of Nashville and the threesome having to relinquish daily oversight. I wish them continued success as they move forward with their expansion and new ventures.
