Either you're progressing, digressing or holding steady. Winning with Broadway's players and losing with your own players is not a narrative...It's facts. Washington inherited a 12-0, championship program; his last two seasons were 5-6 and 7-4. No narratives, just facts. If you can't win, they will find someone who can. Again, not a terrible record, but not moving in the right direction.
Washington never beat FAMU or Morgan State. A&T lost to both in 2018 AND 2019. To put that in perspective...without a probation and postseason ban (Morgan in 2018; FAMU in 2019), the Rattlers would've won the MEAC and went to the Celebration Bowl both years. And A&T had more talent, both years. MEAC wise, Morgan finished 3-4 in 2018 and 2-6 in 2019.
Keep in mind, Broadway had already beaten 2 FBS teams and most of the teams you named. So, I'm not giving Washington credit for upsets/big wins on those. Not sure when any of these schools became powerhouses (Robert Morris, Charleston Southern, Campbell) ??
I count two (1 upset-ECU / 1 big win-Jax State), and both took place in 2018, the year he took over for Broadway. Soon as Broadway's players started to graduate, you saw A&T's performance taper off. I'll even give you a 5-6 Elon team in '19, because Elon's schedule was tough. But these just prove my point, all of these wins are from 2018 & 2019...Washington has digressed. No big wins in 2021 or 2022. He got a mulligan for 2020, since A&T didn't play a fall or spring '21 schedule.
For comparison:
Broadway beat : Kent State (FBS), Charlotte (FBS), Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb, and Elon (3 times)
Washington beat: ECU (FBS); Jax State; *Elon (5-6 in 2019); Robert Morris (4-6 in 2021, 0-11 in 2022); Campbell (5-6 in 2022); Charleston Southern (6-6 in 2019, 4-6 in 2021, 2-8 in 2022)
Not sure what you need to see to know A&T was trending backwards, the proof is in the pudding.
Come on brother be better. Now you're trying to strengthen your argument by posting the team's record "at the end of the year." But not do the same with Broadway wins. Now you're insulting my sports intelligence. At the end of the day he was the the coach, not Boardway. All this it was Broadway players nonsense is nothing more than casual fans talk in an attempt to seem knowledgeable. In truth it's more bs narrative that people bought into. Sam Washington was a key coordinator coach and recruiter on Broadway staff from the very beginning. Which is why he was promoted and a serach wasn't done. So since you want to play word salad. The truth of the matter is. They were more his players than Broadway's.
Again it doesn't matter if God himself "Was" the prior coach. Sam Washington is the one who coach them. Y'all act like there's some auto-pilot button that the next coach pushes, and the leftovers from the previous coach just go out there and play as programed. Come on dude, stop with the lame excuses for these elitist ass hbcu leaders.
