I like: Michigan Southern Cal. [sound like the ancient Romans] Texas A&M Bethune Cookman "Let's Go Wild Cats"
A lot of the HBCU Songs are similar to TSU

Let's Go Wildcats is not the fight song for BCU. It's a spirit song. These are the words to their fight song: Fight for dear old BCC fight for the Gold forever Loyal sons to thee we’ll be. We’ll fight to win the victory, Rah Rah Rah. Cheer for the Maroon and Gold. May it wave forever. May it wave forever. An emblem of our sons so true. We’ll fight, we’ll fight, we’ll fight for the alma mater dear. We’ll fight, we’ll fight, we’ll fight for the alma mater dear. We’ll fight, for dear old BCC fight for the Gold forever. May it wave forever. An emblem of our sons so true They have changed the BCC to BCU. I'm So Glad in my opinion is not a fight song. But, hey our band directors says it is, so it is....

I'd agree with you Denver. I'm not sure if we have anything I'd really consider a fight song.

BCU's Let's Go Wildcats is easily my favorite song by any school. Don't know the difference in fight or spirit songs. There are songs I attach to each band. I think Michigan, Notre Dame, and USC had the most distinct songs (likely fight songs) growing up. I would put BCU's Let's Go Wildcats in that same vein (though it's a spirit song). It's distinguishing and you know it right away. Also fires up the team and the fanbase. I like Alcorn's Brave song & chant as well. I would love TSU to add a song to our book that's distinguishing. I love "I'm So Glad", but need something a little more aggressive or powerful for gameday.

We have Ol Tennessee Spirit. But some reason we never keep it rotation. It comes and goes.

My problem with “I’m so glad” is that many HBCUs have their own version of it. Why a band director, alumni, and president of TSU haven’t thought to sit down and discuss this as a group, after all these years, makes me wonder.

I would think members of the AOB, including alumni members would work to write a song. A former band member at BCU wrote Lets Go Wildcats. He may have also did the BCU version of Cameo's hit song Single Life where they substitute the lyrics to include Wildcats in it.
Maybe someone should approach Dr. McDonald about sponsoring a contest for submissions of a new TSU fight song.

Great idea with having a contest! We have alums who can write music and compose songs...who better to do it. Love this idea.

They use to play I am so glad and then roll right into let's go TSU. That made it a slightly more fight songy feel.
Sad that we no longer do the let's go tsu chant at all.

I might be at homecoming and the Lindenwood games. We can try to bring it back. I might be able to drum out a weak version of sketches on the chairs.

Sometimes, it's because they are going to play another song right afterwards. But if they do not, the chant is the best way to get the crowd into the game. Plus, the red capes swinging while the band moves from side to side looks great in the stands.

We used to have the authority to crank it up whenever the situation called for it, but I guess things have changed. It definitely would have helped the last 3-4 minutes of the SHC. The time of the game where the team needed the band, they just sat there.

You mean the fight song isn't "Hay"?
