TSU ANNOUNCES CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER TO LEAD STRATEGIC EFFORTS AUGUST 15, 2023 EMMANUEL FREEMAN NASHVILLE, Tenn. (TSU News Service) – Tennessee State University is pleased to announce retired Army Lieutenant Gen. Jason T. Evans as the institution’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his role as COO, Evans will provide strategic leadership and oversight for enrollment management, the Office of the Chief Information Officer, the newly established Customer Relations Office, and the TSU Police. Evans was introduced to the TSU campus community during the 2023 Fall Faculty Staff Institute. “The Chief Operating Officer and Customer Relations Office are both new to TSU and will play vital roles in helping to enhance the delivery of services to our students and their families,” said TSU President Glenda Glover. “Gen. Evans’ commitment to excellence and his expertise are ideal for this role, as I look to him to strengthen TSU’s enrollment management process, advance our IT infrastructure, and implement customer relations.” With a distinguished military career that spanned four decades, Evans brings a wealth of command and staff leadership experience to TSU. This new position is great, however I don’t see how his experience correlates with this role. Is he only to manage, or is he to help develop strategies and come up with innovative ideas in this roles?

In order to be a four Star General, he attended several Military and Civilian Schools that's related to various types of planning.

Sounds like a position where a military attitude might work wonders... I bit of discipline may be just what the doctor ordered. NO MORE EXCUSES FOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

"Enrollment management" should NOT MEAN that enrollment is decreased or capped at a certain number. The goal for TSU should be to INCREASE enrollment. There's no reason why TSU shouldn't have a 10 - 15,000 student population. In fact, I would make the 15K student population number a goal by 2033. That means getting more money that the state owes TSU to build and/or upgrade dorms, and possibly build off campus student housing.
As gentrification moves its way down Jefferson St, TSU might want to make a deal with some of those developers to build off campus housing for students.
