I'm not the biggest fan of Gleda, but the timing concerns me. Hope the board is ready.

I hope TSU would do something similar as APSU. In the past, interviews and the selection of a President, has been done "Behind Close Doors"

I hate to see her go at this critical time. We need her or someone with an understanding of the political environment surrounding TSU during this time of transition. I’m proud of her, but the timing stinks.

I’m proud of her, but the timing stinks. You hit the nail on the head "Political Environment" Got to learn how to play their game. Should have been in contact with Dr. McPhee at MTSU he learned. The handwriting was on the wall and Dr. Glover knew it. And as one of the Legislators pointed out, part of the blame fall directly on the Board of Governors, for not doing their job. They will be responsible for selecting a New President! I am sure the complaints from the students had a part.

I hope TSU would do something similar as APSU. In the past, interviews and the selection of a President, has been done "Behind Close Doors" In the past transparency wasn't built into the process whether it being the State Board of Regents or the UT system. However, when Dr. Glover was selected that process was far more open than it had ever been. It did lead people to wonder why her given some of the other candidates backgrounds and visions for TSU. I suspect the scoring of the criteria that was established was not defined well nor executed properly. There was probably too much room for implied assertion into the scoring that allowed favor to be shown for a candidate. This will be the first president at TSU to be put in place by our Board of Trustees. My concern is are they ready for the challenge? They've not exemplified the leadership capabilities one would expect from a Board of Trustees. They don't see to understand their role in overseeing the governance of an institution of higher learning. Being on the BOT at TSU is not the same as being on the Board of Directors of some small non-profit community based organization. You don't show up at meeting an let the director of the organization fill you in on everything and vote. The BOT at TSU is supposed to drive governance of the entire university. In my opinion they have failed to do that and my trust in their ability to conduct a proper national search for a new president is very low.

Yes, this will be a challenge - surly hope someone will step-up and become a true leader based on the needs of the university. And not their own personal agenda. IMO, there are some well qualified individuals that are willing to become the President - just have to select the right one.
Not sure the year, there was a list of candidates published, two I remember one was TSU Graduate, he held a position within the University of Missouri, he withdrew his name - because he stated TSU - SBR takes to long to make a decision. There were two females, one was in a position "I think" the Univ. of Michigan and the other from a College / University in New York.
I think, Dr. Johnson, became the president.
