Ahhhh, more details. If I read correctly, our rent is in the parking and they get all the concessions. And while not mentioned in this article, I think we still get some ad space to sell.
Now if we start having students staying near the stadium, that might be an instant game changer for home games. Specially if we're winning.

TSU won’t pay rent or game-related expenses such as field setup, security, janitorial services, utilities, broadcasting and communication costs but will pay revenue-related expenses such as parking, ticket sales, event merchandise, food and beverage with revenue from sales.
Nice

Nice Right, basically we have to front anything related to revenue and we also reap the benefits of sales related to those efforts.

I guess I'll settle for the fact that we're getting some hotels for students out of the deal.

I guess I'll settle for the fact that we're getting some hotels for students out of the deal. One actually has nothing to do with the other. It made no sense for Tennessee Lookout to mention the hotels as part of this article. The funding for the hotels is a separate request by TSU for the 2023-24 academic school year to help with the housing issue. One thing the State made clear to TSU was they want all hotels to be close to the main campus and a limited number of hotels. The Brick Church Pike/Trinity Lane area offers a close proximity and properties that TSU can lease the entire property.

I agree, the hotel portion was basically a throw-in to try and make this agreement appear sweeter than it actually is.

Now if we start having students staying near the stadium, that might be an instant game changer for home games. Specially if we're winning. The article states there is no rent so rent is not in the parking. You might be reading too much into that portion of the article. What the article is saying in essence is that TSU will be responsible for all expenses associated with parking, ticket sales, event merchandise, food and beverage with "revenue" from sales. What that means is that TSU will manage all of those components on game day and will be responsible for any costs associated with those components. It is expected that the expenses associated with those components will be paid out of revenue generated from those components. Which also means that any revenue generated above the costs of those components will belong to TSU. More than likely, TSU will negotiate percentage based costs contracts with each provider so that the contractor gets paid for their service and TSU generates a profit as well. They could also negotiate lump sum contracts, fixed costs contracts or costs plus contracts. I wouldn't do the latter. The stadium deal has nothing to do with students staying at hotels near the stadium. The hotels are needed to address the housing issue on campus. The number of students staying in hotel properties will not be sufficient to making an impact on student attendance at home games. And, while the hotels located on Brick Church Pike are closer to the stadium, they certainly are not within walking distance. Students without their own transportation will still shuttle service to the games. I hope that is something TSU is factoring into the hotel scenario this season.

I was being a bit extra and simplistic with my comment, but I do appreciate the deeper explanation. I'm aware that housing and stadium are two totally different deals. However if I wouldn't down play it's potential if we stuck using those hotels for several years. For big game days, those could big game days could spark party central for the hotel and parking lot. Cultivating new nostalgia. A reach, but not unthinkable.

Something tells me that I don’t think we are ever going to see the other $250 million owed by the state.

I think that depends on school administration being determined to keep going after the money.

Something tells me that I don’t think we are ever going to see the other $250 million owed by the state. We won't. All of these crumbs we are being thrown and willingly accepting are the deflections.
