North Carolina A&T director of track and field programs Allen Johnson announced the hiring of Quamel Prince as his new cross country/distance coach on Monday.
"Coach Q brings an excellent work ethic and relatability to the athletes that will take our cross country and distance programs to new heights," said Johnson.
Prince will coach the Aggies men's and women's cross country teams in the fall and the men's and women's distance runners during the indoor and outdoor seasons. He comes to North Carolina A&T after spending one season with George Washington University.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Prince became one of the best track and field athletes in Tennessee State history. He won five Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championships during his career (2013-17), including three 800m titles. In addition, Prince won the 400 and 800m indoor titles as a senior and helped the Tigers earn a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.

Yeah, I’m not too happy about this. Young and talented. He could have really helped in recruiting at TSU, but we went another direction.
I wish him the best, but I’m not happy we let him get away.

I keep telling everyone, TSU continue to live in a time warp. The facilities need upgrading, think it's on Dr' agenda. really in a bad location, I think it has on one set of bleachers. It's time for Dr, to evaluate all the programs, including the coaching staff. Cheeseborough, want to be the men and woman coach, do one or the other. The TB., has become none existence, since Coach Temple passed. No longer a household name or feared on the track. Perhaps this is why, Prince is at A&T and not TSU!Monolith stadium! This 23,000 seat stadium serves as the football stadium for NC A&T State University and includes a world class track and field facility. The track has a state-of-the-art surface and is home of 2009 U.S.A. Track & Field.
North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track has become one of the premiere track and field facilities in the country.
