Could this be next years homecoming game?
Tennessee State Norfolk State will travel to face the Tennessee State Tigers in Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 14, 2023. The contract, which includes only the 2023 contest, stipulates that the Spartans will receive an $80,000 guarantee for playing the game." (www.fbschedules.com)

NSU traditionally, has a good team, but not looking good this season(1-5), Losses to Sacred Heart 914-31) and St. Francis (26-45) I hope so, maybe I can encourage my cousin to attend the game. He played DB, Played with the Browns and Patriots.

Spartan Pride!
I'm excited about Norfolk State coming to TSU.
Is this their first time playing TSU?

I actually wouldn't mind a return trip to NSU. I wouldn't mind it being a home and home either since NSU is just under 4 hours away from where I live in the DC area. Plus, I know several Norfolk alum that I need a get back from that basketball game we loss to them last year. TSU fans were surprisingly hyped to play Hampton on the road in 2019, but unfortunately hurricane weather threatened the area and the game was cancelled. Although, Hampton was pretty much the only school that cancelled as early as they did and ultimately the weather was fine. Anyway, TSU fans had booked several hotels in the Hampton Roads area and they had several activities planned the Friday night before the game and the morning of the game. I could see the same happening with Norfolk. Maybe even more because Norfolk is a larger school and has a somewhat stronger fanbase. They would definitely welcome our fans and band. Speaking of bands, NSU's band doesn't travel a lot, so don't be surprised if their band doesn't travel to Nashville.

Is this their first time playing TSU? I think so, not 100% sure. TSU played NSU or Virginia Union or Virginia State, in the 70's. I think TSU and NSU played many, many years ago. Need to find my old football book, listed all the games for TSU

Typically, we're always hyped to play a HBCU because we know that with the OVC schedule, we're usually only going to see 3 HBCUs at the most. While true, I believe that if their budget permits, they'd make this trip. Most bandheads have long stated that a Norfolk/TSU match-up is one that they'd love to see.

Yeah, I definitely planned on visiting NSU's campus when we were suppose to play Hampton (2 for 1). I enjoy seeing other HBCUs. And of course the history behind Hampton, both how & where it was established. I would plan to do the same if allotted the opportunity to play NSU in Norfolk.
Also, I like NSU's Spartan Legion Marching band. They are unique. I like this right here, especially @2:12

I would definitely prefer NCAT, but I guess you take what you can.
And if all Norfolk St is getting is $80K from TSU, the band is more than likely not coming. Looks like TSU filled the last open spot on their schedule for 2023.
