Interesting. Remember the Missouri Valley Conference and the Missouri Valley Football Conference are two separate entities. The Missouri Valley Conference has not sponsored football since 1985, however...The MVC shares its name with the MVFC (formerly the Gateway Conference). Both conferences operate from the same headquarters complex in St. Louis; however, they are separate administratively. FYI, Murray is officially in both conferences now, but this is very interesting. Separate but still somewhat on topic, even with Murray becoming the 12th football member of the MVFC, the conference will not split into divisions (football wise). I have to wonder does NDSU have a bone to pick with the MVC since they were probably denied an invite for their basketball team to join. Probably wasn't deemed a strong enough bball program. Which I'm sure Murray is not perceived as a strong football program, yet was invited to join the MVFC. Just guessing here.

What they need to be doing is joining an fbs conference and stop going around Masquerading as an fcs school. That's what their azzes need to be concern about.

It must fit their finances better to stay put.

Dude NDSU is already operating on an fbs budget between $50-60 mil. They just don't want to be taking those ass whoopings and be the little fish in a big pond

bluedog lol.
tsucrat, I feel like they did the same thing before moving up to FCS (formerly 1-AA), meaning they took their time. I believe they could have moved up to FCS a lot sooner than they actually did. Only difference this time is...they had better conference options awaiting them when they moved to FCS, than they have in FBS.
The closest conference is the Big Ten, which is highly unlike to extend an invite. No other conference has a school in a state that borders North Dakota. Wyoming is the closest, which means the Mountain West has the closest school. However, the MAC may make more sense when you factor in some of the schools in the Mountain West (New Mexico, Hawaii, San Diego State, etc). Even then, Northern Illinois is the closest school to NDSU in the MAC and that's two states away. They may not be moving because they do not have a good fit just yet. If they were to attempt a jump up to FBS, my guess is they will try to jump with another Dakota school and/or Northern Iowa.
