Had a conversation yesterday / discussion with the new dorm. Told that the new dorms will be constructed between Eppse Hall and the Performing Arts Center. So very little green space remaining on the campus. The location of the new dorm was presented when the announcement was formally made. From what I've been told the dorm will be built in a way that will add green space. So, I assuming that it will take up some of the parking lot space that is underutilized. TSU is an urban campus so green space will be sparse. But when you look at the site of the former SUB building now being green space, the area in front of the "A" Building, Old Library and up to the current SUB, not to mention the space behind the old library and the green space that runs from the current SUB up to the performing arts center, there is still quite a bit of green space. It's just not seen unless you walk into the campus. We have far more green space than several of the DC campuses like Howard and George Washington. For that matter, Bowie State an HBCU not far from where I live is truly suburban and I'd venture to say TSU has more green space than BSU. Georgetown also has limited green space. My concern is actually more about the utilization and layout of the campus.

The dorms are taking up most of the space / parking slot between Watson 3 to the theater / close to the band room.
I am think the construction adjacent to Rudolph where the recycling bens are - will be a new parking lot.
I remember reading in one of the plans, parking near the building will be limited - transportation to the classrooms will be provided by buses.
A few years ago, I contacted the administration and suggested on campus trolleys would be nice and they could contact the section I work in to see if TDOT could assist with the funding.
Never heard from the administration

If we as TSU alum don't band together and petition the BOT, SBR and possibly even the Governor, we can't expect any changes to happen anytime soon. Dr. Glover is getting a pass. Especially now with the Covid-19. I would really like to see what the enrollment numbers are at other State Universities in TN and other public HBCU's. Especially AAMU, ASU, FAMU, JSU, NCA&T, NCCU, NSU and TxSU.
Our issues started well before Covid-19. Our leadership should be held accountable for the declines we've seen in enrollment and rankings.

TSU has several projects that are underway outside of the dorm, but aren't as sexy to talk about. But one of the primary projects is a campus wide electrical upgrades project. It's being done in phases. Phase one has been approved and has a budget of $1.4M. They are also replacing the roof on the Strange Music Building ($457K). TSU is upgrading the fire alarm system across the campus ($705K). Upgrading A/V systems across campus as well budgeted amount $1.6M. ADA safety upgrades and improvements, also done in phases. Phase one is underway at a cost of $479K. Residence Centers Elevators Upgrades ($269K).

While some of the projects sounds good. Honestly. majority of the dorms are outdated and need to be replaced. I am surprised they meet metro codes.
I was circling the campus, and noticed the campus look like it’s close to the end of the semester, not a lot of vehicles on campus – my guess is a lot of the student my be remote classes.
The new dorms:
foundation, mostly finished with pluming and steel (I-Beans) going up. Looking good.
Parking lot behind Rudolph, about 3/4 from being finished
I am still hoping the university will purchase a few trolleys to circulate around the campus.

The board meetings tell you nothing.
All the real discussions happen in the committee meetings.

At first the audit issues were with the tsu foundation. The admin blamed the employees. Now it is another department. No one is holding people accountable.

I am not sure what Audit Report they are reading, there were a lot of issues "Repeat Findings" Employees fault, yes and no - more no because some employees were working in several areas, which mean you will loose focus in one or all areas, especially those that you are not familiar with.
