A friend from undergrad and fellow TSU alum, had an extra ticket to the Celebration Bowl, so I ended up going. I gotta say, I really enjoyed myself! One, I didn't have any nerves since it wasn't TSU playing.

The facility is beautiful, it was nice seeing HBCUs fill it up. They chose not to sell the top (300 level seats) likely because of past years attendance. I fully expect them to have those seats available next year. They missed out on some money.

Big shoutout to JSU and SCSU, had a ball with both fanbases. Ended up seating amongst SCSU fans and of course it was electric on their side. It felt like homecoming x2 in there. And of course it was nice to see alums from other HBCUs have on their gear and support as well. Ran into a few TSU alums in there. Also saw friends from FAMU, Southern, AAMU, Grambling, Howard, Hampton, Clark, Spelman, Morehouse and a few PWIs...and so on.

To think it was a nice downpour of rain at noon when the game kicked off but everyone still showed up and had fun. Need this atmosphere! Gotta find ways for HBCUs to build more atmospheres like this. Playoff, bowl, regular season, etc.

It really isn't fair to do that, and that's an understatement. But since you asked.

From their fb page:

The NCAA reports attendance in the 2021 FCS playoffs was 203,221.

That's an average of 8,836 over 23 playoff games.

The championship game drew 18,942 to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

VIEWERSHIP: 1.322 million viewers

Yeah, comparing ncaa playoff attendance to bowl game attendance is really apples and tomatoes.

But i digress, its great to see the Celebration Bowl [an FCS bowl game], doing better than half of the other bowl games that are all FBS teams.

They should have definitely opened up the upper level for this one. If they had my ear, I would have told them jokers, 'you know Jackson State is coming....get some more chairs from the supply room'

...cause I know between them and Southern Jaguars, the SWAC would be overflowing the joint. I cannot say the same about any of the meac teams altho they have shown up before in the past, esp A&T.
