I think there were some legal issues with another family. For some reason the May family comes to mind. Not sure about the MBA, I was thinking Martha was on the TSU Board during the same time as Dr. Frist.

The May Town Center project died. It never truly established footing. There was lot of opposition to it. This was during a slower growth period in Nashville. If it was really a viable development it would have come back to life by now. The May family did not donate the land (250 acres) once the May Town Center went dead. They instead donated $400K to the endowment for a teaching position. Which wouldn't really do much for the university long term. TSU didn't want the land unless it could be rezoned along with the May Town Center. The idea was to build an agricultural research campus on the property. That would have freed up the current agricultural buildings on campus to be used for other purposes or torn down to make way for new structures. I don't know why TSU wouldn't have accepted the land and seek rezoning separately. I may be because they got screwed on the land that was donated in Gibson County for the agriculture department. That land was tremendously over valued and after an audit was performed it was determined to be valued significantly less than $4M the Gibson County school district said it was worth. So, TSU got a piece of property that they were on the hook for and had depreciated significantly. Anyway, long story short, TSU does not own any land on the other side of the river at least not the land that was supposed to be donated by the May family.

Can we get a closed door meeting with the President to present these ideas along with a restructuring of the Athletic dept. around a new AD and Head football coach.
