Tennessee Vols basketball great Ron Slay is the new TV/radio analyst for Tennessee State
Tennessee Vols basketball great Ron Slay is the new TV/radio analyst for Tennessee State Mike Organ Nashville Tennessean
Ron Slay is getting back in the game.
The Pearl-Cohn and Tennessee basketball great has joined Tennessee State men's basketball television/radio broadcast as an analyst along with play-by-play voice Greg Pogue.
Slay joined 104.5 The Zone's afternoon drive sports talk show 3HL along with co-hosts Brent Dougherty and Dawn Davenport earlier this year, which helped get him closer to basketball. But this is an even bigger step.
"I want to do anything to be close to the game," Slay said. "I was able to do some high school coaching with coach (Ricky) Bowers over at Ensworth and then being on the radio I
IMO, let him go to UT and announce their games.
When TSU recruited him, he said "No" and something like "I am better than that"
I was a friend of his mother, she worked at TSU, UT wanted him so bad they gave his mother a job, working with the Cheerleaders at UT.
When he left, so did her job.

Seriously, I have no love for "Roe's" that think they are to good. But, looking for a handout later in life. Told the aunt of a relative that played Football at UT, same thing.
Remember when UT hired, Wade Houston, Assistant under Denny Crum, University of Louisville. He was hired because UT wanted Allen Houston, his son.
When Allen left for the Nicks, pops had to find another job.
This is the sad part is, as the HC, you have a membership in a local country club, I think it was called the Cherokee. Ole Wade, showed up to play, I imagine all decked out in his UT Shirt, ready to play.
Then "no lie" it was in the Knoxville Newspaper. Ole Wade Shows up, he was told that it was a private club, he had not been sponsored by another club member and they don's allow "*&^" to play at this Country Club.
If my memory, is "OK" Doug Dickey was the AD, football coach Majors, College President Lamar Alexander said "ain't that a shame in this day and time" all three resigned from the country club. The thing is, all three knew the club policy, prior to Houston showing up to play.

At this point I might be able to forgive his pass transgressions. He is definitely lively on the commentary and not holding back on his opinions on the calls or the play on the floor.

Honestly, I just have very little respect for players TSU recruit and develop negative attitude because they think "they are better than".
Question: Was Collins Sr., the head coach at PC, before Slay moved to Oak Hill Academy.
