Are they going to have to be kicked out of the SWAC before they even step in? Just days away from its first-ever attendance at the SWAC Media Day in Birmingham, Ala., sources indicate sweeping changes at Bethune-Cookman University. Already a bit shaken by the departure of longtime vice president and director of athletics Lynn Thompson, word of massive firings this week on the campus has left some on the campus reeling. hbcugameday.com/2021/07/17/sources-massive-admin-change-at-bethune-cookman/

You know some changes would be made but to clean house entirely seems a bit much & knee jerk. I hope this does not alienate alumni, fans & supporters.

To clean house on this level sets off an immediate alarm that it's far from being a knee jersey reaction. Only time will tell if it is or isn't. Bethune-Cookman being a private institution we may not know until years down the road.

You think they could actually get kicked out? Who knows? What I do know is that entry into any viable conference it's base on certain requirements. If those requirements aren't met through attrition or fraud is basis for any agreement to be voided

BCU was in turmoil when they announced that they would be joining the SWAC. That is partially why some of their alum were surprised with the move. They now have an interim president that at least their alumni feel can bring some stability to the instability that has been creating issues for several years. He has indicated that he is not interested in being their next president even though many are hoping he'll reconsider. It is my understanding that many of their alum want to see their entire Board of Trustees dissolved. Many believe they are part of the issue and have lead to corruption among their leadership.

As the article states their financial and academic concerns were taken care well before they asked to join the SWAC. This isn't the same

The article may very well state that, but that doesn't make it so. BCU is still dealing with financial issues. Just ask any of their alum that are keeping up with what is going on at their school. I didn't mention their academic issues. But, they are looking at cutting programs. Which isn't necessarily due to academics but for financial reasons. However, it impacts their academic offerings and may have an adverse impact on the academic standing of some students should they have to do that.

Let me see if I understand you correctly. The article states that BCU has taken care of financial issues that it had, but that doesn't "make it so." BUT the same article stating that BCU has problems in their athletic department "makes it so." Got ya. Smh..
