Link to press conference for famu. The SWAC Commissioner reported: 1) That since FAMU and BCU announced they were joining the SWAC, sponsorships have increased 350% for the conference! 2) The SWAC is now in the final stages of securing a media rights deal that will rival what many FBS conferences have! 3) The SWAC is now in a position where instead of splitting millions, conference member schools will split tens of millions in revenue sharing! 4) The SWAC is now home to EVERY MAJOR HBCU Classic game! 5) The SWAC's attendance averaged over 18k attendees per game and with the addition of FAMU and BCU that number will increase! We'll probably be the first and most likley the only fcs conference to reach a million in conference attendance www.facebook.com/FAMUAth/videos/351604459696812/

FAMU will certainly increase SWAC attendance. Especially the games against SU, Grambling, JSU and probably Bama State. BCU, will as well but not as much, especially after the newness wears off. BCU doesn't travel well. But if their team is on point and their band travels, the home school fans may turn out in good numbers for those games. I suspect the big games for BCU in the SWAC will be Bama State, Southern and JSU. Obviously the BCU/FAMU game will be big and that by itself is a huge bonus for the SWAC. The only downside is the NCAA doesn't count neutral site games into home attendance numbers. But, I think they do get factored into overall conference attendance numbers. So, for the SWAC overall it should be a boost of 45K to 50K in general. If both teams are doing well, it could even be +60K.

That's incorrect, they don't count neutral site games over 100 miles from the home team natural home site. Or in some cases if it's not designated as an alternative home site.

So, every other year the game counts since BCU is less than 100 miles away from the neutral site stadium in Orlando that they and FAMU play in? And, based on your statement, every other year the SWAC won't benefit from the Florida Classic. I've searched for this 100 mile rule you referenced and I've come up empty. Can you tell me where you obtained that information? What I've seen on the NCAA site is this... "Conference attendance includes home games and neutral site contests between two teams in the same conference. Independents total includes home game totals and neutral site games between two independent teams." And, I've seen other scenarios that help determine when a game is considered a neutral site game and how the home team is designated, etc.

Or even if they have one. I'm just telling you what our experience have been for us in the Bayou Classic over 30 plus years.

I’m looking forward to what those ending numbers will look like. I haven’t looked at the ASUN schedules this year, but they may increase this year as well. Also, if y’all get this this media rights deal, that’s going to be huge. I hate what’s happening to the MEAC, but this is great for the SWAC.
