When Florida A&M arrives in Athens, GA to take on the University of Georgia, the FAMU Marching 100 will be front and center with the team. How much in demand is the Florida A&M Marching 100? Well, one school made sure it booked the famed marching band nearly a decade early.
A contract for the University of Georgia hosting Florida A&M shows that FAMU will be paid $650,000, according to OnlineAthens. The game is set to take place on Sept. 9, 2028. hbcugameday.com/2021/05/10/marching-100-part-of-famu-uga/

Now that's something I believe HBCUs can make a nice market. I do believe these bigger schools are opening more to the idea of an HBCU band as halftime entertainment. Vanderbilt fans love it. I don't think Phillips cared as much about using the band as a selling point for the team, but I think Allen will.

I got stuck on the $650K. Thought it would be more.
I think Phillips did understand the value of the. I just don't think she was aggressive in including them in a deal. But, other than Air Force, we really haven't had anyone on the schedule other than Vandy, Georgia State and mTSU. She wouldn't have had to mention the band as part of the package. It was probably understood that they would be.
I do agree that Dr. Allen, probably sees the value of the band as a selling/marketing tool.
I know he didn't schedule Mississippi State, but I wonder if the AOB will make the trip.

Good question. I kind of assumed they weren't going. Unless for some reason enough people in the area start making a request.
