Based off their message board comments they don't feel that good about their chances...

I don't think GSU fans feel overwhelmingly confident about the TSU game. But they do overall seem to think they will win. I find their conversation about the projected attendance hilarious. They have no earthly idea how many people will turn out for this game. I suspect somebody is going to regret scheduling this game on a Thursday night. Not only will it deter the number of TSU fans who'll make the game, it'll also impact their own fan base which they are still trying to build. There fans are already debating fighting traffic to make the game. No FBS schools should be concerned about how many fans from the visiting school will show up, especially an FCS opponent. It seems that GSU hasn't done much to promote this opening game in the revamped Turner Field, which will be their permanent home field. The funniest statement though had to be that their opponents like the idea of coming to Atlanta and now they'll be more likely to come to play in the revamped stadium because of its legacy. They even mentioned that playing in the dome was a disadvantage for them because opponents were hyped to be playing in the dome. I don't think they realize that TSU plays in Nissan Stadium, so playing in a revamped Turner Field isn't going to be a big deal for our team or our fans. And, they wish they could have drawn the numbers that TSU could draw when we used to play in the dome.

Georgia State fans are mostly...well... kinda CLUELESS. Secondly, their season home opener and homecoming are about the only 2 times they have an decent crowd at their football games. The hbcu's that they have played in the past had alredy played before in the Dome and it was more of a 2nd home to TSU than it has ever been to GaState...but, I digress.
Thursday nite season opener.... meh. I'll be there but still prefer the game be on a saturday. I also hate that TSU ends the season with a thursday nite game at Jacksonville State but...I'll leave work early and be their in TigerBlue too!

Field at Georgia State Stadium named Parker Petit August 09, 2017 5:39 PM Georgia State University has announced its football field at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta will be named for Parker H. “Pete” Petit. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of MiMedx Group. A long-time supporter of the university, he made a $10 million gift to the university to support the athletics program. The Georgia State Stadium is the former Turner Field, home for the Atlanta Braves. A report on the school website says Georgia State took ownership of the property in January 2017. The conversion and construction into a 22,000-seat football stadium began in February and the first football game will be the evening of August 31 versus Tennessee State University. I actually think they will sellout this game. The stadium is only 22,000. If it doesn't sellout, it will be awfully close.

I actually think they will sellout this game. The stadium is only 22,000. If it doesn't sellout, it will be awfully close. it should if for no other reason, it the first game in their official home stadium. but, they really don't have much of a following in Atlanta. And, I don't see TSU fans flocking there for a Thursday night game. I'm still considering it. But, with other travel plans later in the year and early next year, I'm just not sure I want to use two vacation days for the trip. Organizers of these Thursday night games in my opinion don't take that into consideration. But I'm sure they are hoping for a much stronger local presence. As for the stadium, I personally don't like it. While they will officially use only 22K of the seats, it still looks like a much bigger baseball stadium with a football field plopped in the middle of it and one new set of bleachers added to the sideline of field. But, you can't fault GSU for taking the deal to take over the stadium. I'm sure it was much cheaper than building a brand stadium.

So much for their predictions!!!!
Even if they would have 60 or 65 percent chance, but 89%? They were tripping'.
