I refuse to post anything on cross country. Because until we make it a priority and recruit long distance runners, there will never be anything good to talk about. Just know that this season, just as any other season, the teams are coming in last place in nearly every race.

The following link/article has nothing to do with TSU. It is an article about little ole Covenant College that sits on top of Lookout Mountain, just outside of Chattanooga. I post it because it is a wrap up of its second place finish in a recent cross country event. What’s significant about it is that it tells you how many runners finished under 30mins in a 5 mile race (4 to be exact and the 5th guy finished at 30:17). What this article doesn’t tell you is that Covenant College is only D-III. The point I’m trying to make is that a little ole D-III school, on top of a mountain, can out recruit TSU and Chandra Cheeseborough, who’s best team had only three runners who can finish 5 miles within 30mins. Pathetic. x.com/chattasports/status/1708324650810556464?s=46

I agree. I say bring in new blood for T&F and CC. Its been well over 20 yrs for her. Though, TSU has won in T&F on and off. They have not been a force since Coach Temple. For years, T&F has had only two coaches. I notice T&F, have two additional coaches, let's see what happens. One of the main problems is facilities; Indoor Track, need to be re-surfaced. I need to check, since Gentry has a new BB Court. Muna Lee was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, but raised in Kansas City, Missouri. Lee, having recently retired from a 12-year professional sprinting career, has been coaching collegiate track and field for 6 years Gwen Berry is a world-class athlete who started her hammer throw career in 2008 at the University of Southern Illinois Carbondale. She gained notoriety in 2016 when she made her first Olympic team and broke the indoor world record in Hammer Throw. Also, Hammer Thrower in the 2020 Olympics. Lee and Berry, will be an asset to the staff. www.cnn.com/2021/08/03/sport/gwen-berry-fist-social-justice-tokyo-spt-intl/index.html

Now can we hire a cross country coach? Are they doubling as men coaches?

The answer to your question is yes. There is no focus on long distance. Cheeseborough for years have converted middle distance runners (400 and 800 meters) into long distance runners. It is a way of stacking quality middle distance runners without recruiting long distance runners. I would assume she’s probably recruiting one or two 1,600 meter (mile) runners.
