PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. --- The final day of the PGA WORKS Intercollegiate Championship was halted due to lightning and rain with two to five holes from completition. Due to all teams not completing 54 holes, the tournament was reduced to the results for two rounds, a 36 hole event.
Rosario Falzone claimed the individual honors finishing at 3-under, three strokes ahead of Paul San of Alabama A&M. Falzone was pulled off the course after 13 holes on Sunday. The senior had dropped three strokes to move to Even through 12 holes and held a one stroke lead over Bethune-Cookman's Marcus Sandlof. On the par-5 13th, Falzone increased his lead back to three strokes with an eagle before play was halted and all scores resumed back to the end of round two.
Falzone is the second Tiger to grab the individual title in four years. Fellow senior Drew Owens won top honors as a freshman in 2016.
Tennessee State grabbed third place as a team finishing seven strokes behind team champion, Bethune-Cookman. Florida A&M finished second, three strokes ahead of the Big Blue. During the third round on Sunday, the Tigers had worked their way back into a tie with FAMU, just before the stoppage of play.
