I think Battle should surely be prepared for next week.
Amazing! We go from the qb position as the most solid position weeks before the season starts, to it being the weakest at this point. We need to prepare Battle and another qb just in case Rosendahl and Hughes have problems this week and going forward.

If I was Reed. I wouldn’t play anyone that has a injury especially any of the QBs. In order to keep his job he is going to have to come in 1st or 2nd place in the OVC. We can’t do it without being healthy. Sir anyone with injuries. For some reason I think this team is talented enough to be at the top of the OVC.

Get back to fundamentals coach. Tackling - Terrible Blocking - Terrible You can't win if you can't perform the basic fundamental components of football. Same problems with MVSU game. You would think TSU would have corrected the problems.
Let me add missed assignment's.
If those problems are not corrected, its going to be a long season.

If the Head Coach starts or plays the young guys he will be throwing in the towel for the season for sure. Neither Bryant or the Battle have played or received any significant snaps at the college level. With Hughes's(Hand)and Rosendahl's(knee)problems replacing both of theses guys may be the only logical decision for the coaches. Realistically, you will get a view of next season outlook if this happens especially with Hughes and Rosendahl graduating. I thought Hughes played more efficiently than Rosendahl and had more zip on his passes which caused problems for MTSU. Rosendahl played to his strengths until he was hurt in the 2nd Quarter. The defense just ran out of gas in the 4th Quarter which is expected when facing an FBS team. Overall the "Big Blue" played hard and did not embarrass the fans in my opinion. We need to play as hard against JSU this weekend. My two cents!! Go Big Blue!

I’m not saying play the young guys. Im saying coach reed only way to keep his job is to win the OVC or at least come in second place. These next two games he has to come out healthy to have a chance to win the OVC. If anyone is banged up I would sit them against JSU and Arkansas Pine Bluff these games don’t mean anything to him for keeping his job. For some reason I think this team can win in the OVC but they have to be healthy.

Then I could be wrong
I believe the next two game "Jackson State and UAPB" will be an indication of the remainder of the season.

Just watched the replay of this game. First off, the MTSU/ESPN announcers did a wonderful job. DIdn't feel they were bias or leading.
I didn't get the feel of night and day when it comes to Rosendahl and Hughes. Neither threw the ball downfield. However, Hughes was more effective due to the read option. That opened up the middle for Roberson's touchdown. I like how decisive Hughes was with the read option! Newbold looked good this game, both receiving and rushing. Who will be our third receiver and TE that will step up?
I will say I'm not a big fan of the new offense so far. I'm hoping this is just because the players have to get use to the new system.
Defensively, the defensive line has to do a better job of gap integrity. Tackling and angle need to be worked on. Coverage wise the secondary did great in the first half. Second half, the lid came off. We still need a consistent pass rush. In the day and age of spread offenses, you have to almost go two deep at CB and DE. We missed the two injured CBs in the second half.
Overall:
Offensively, the jury is still out. Not sure what my expectation is going forward. OVC schools will not let us force feed Rowland the ball. The RBs, Rowland and Roberson, looked good.
Defensively, we're going to have success in some games, but I also see us struggling as well.

I actually love what Shannon Harris is doing. He doesn’t have his starting QB neither Rosendahl or Hughes can throw the ball down field. I love the bubbles come back routes. Only one suspect play call to me was the interception but Rosendahl threw the ball short in the end zone. Harris is getting our best player the ball 11 times a game with a back up QB. How many OCs can do that. Also OVC teams can game plan all they want to but it’s hard to take a slot guy out without leaving Newbold open over the top. 26 points against MTSU and they left 10 points out there with a botched fake field goal and the turnover in the red zone. What more do you want from an OC that has to play his 2nd and 3rd string QBs.
