They've only played 2 games. It's hard to get a read on them...
TTU at Middle Tennessee L, 32-25
TTU at #1 Georgia L, 48-3
TTU basically had MTSU beat, with MTSU scoring in like the final minute to take the lead. MTSU appears to be pretty bad though...I have a hard time seeing how they'll win more than 3 of their remaining games.
TTU held Georgia to less points than we held North Dakota State to, and we've seen our defense having trouble getting ball carriers to the ground in space.
That said, I can't lie - we owe them from last year, and I would be disappointed if a coach in year 1 of his tenure who did not inherit a great team or program beats us in year 4 of our regime.
I'll go TSU 27 TTU 24.

We really have to cut down the errors and mental lapses. I think TTU will test us in every phase. So, we need to be ready to play! Hopefully, the coaches are drilling into the team, that conference games hold more weight! We need a sharp week of practice.

They have had a week off and not getting pounded by UGA and playing with MTSU up until the 4th qtr lets me know TSU better have a great week of practice or they will potentially get embarrassed in Cookeville.

Well, TSU survived another SHC and is now 2-1 on the season. TTU is 0-2 on the season with losses to mTSU and Georgia.
Obvioulsy no one expected TTU to beat Georgia or to even be competitive. The mTSU game on the other hand might be a better indicator of what TTU is capable of doing on the field against comparable FCS programs. They started out slow in the mTSU game, ending the first half 5-21. TTU was the only team to score in the 3rd qtr pushing the score to 11-21. mTSU hit a FG at the 9:00 mark in the 4th and then TTU scored two TD's with less than 5 minutes to go putting them in the lead 25-24. With 16 seconds remaining mTSU was able to regain the lead, ending the game with 32-25 win. TTU came close to beating FBS mTSU to open their season and after the expected loss to Georgia, I'm sure they will be looking to get their first win of the season as they host TSU in Cookeville.
I think it is safe to say TTU is above the level of play we saw against MVSU and UAPB. They probably are not close to being at the level of NDSU either. But, they did take us to the woodshed last year ending our season in a 0-35 loss. TSU is showing improvements over last season, however, defensively we are still struggling. Especially our defensive backs who just don't seem to know where they are supposed to be. The defensive line also had issues against the run game of NDSU. TTU's run offense wasn't that productive against mTSU, as they only rushed for 67 yards. But, last season TTU rushed for 230 yards against TSU. I'm sure they will be looking to do the same against TSU to start. TTU's passing game against mTSU was better with 274 passing yards. And, they used their passing attack to take the lead late in the game. So, they can certainly flip the switch if necessary.
Our Big Blue Tigers better be ready for both a ground and air attack early in this game. It doesn't take much to see how that strategy could keep TSU guessing and challenge our defense. Offensively, I think TSU can have balanced attack against TTU. mTSU put up 210 passing yards and 118 rushing yards. If our O-line can control the line of scrimmage, to open up the run game that will be a big advantage for TSU.
TSU still has a lot to clean up on both sides of the ball but mostly defensively. They will definitely have to tidy things up and play strong from beginning to end. They will also be motivated to beat TTU after that blowout loss to them last season.
I'm predicting a close game with TSU coming away with the win.

Our DBs have to play through the whistle and focus on alignment and assignment. QB play is better this year so defense does not have to win the game for us, DBs gotta let the opposing QB make a mistake, rather than take unnecessary risk to try and turn the ball over.
