Wow...I had no idea this kid is the son and nephew of TSU alums Jarrett and Gerald Morrow!! www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/07/10/jamarion-morrow-germantown-melrose-football-missouri/74340255007/Jamarion Morrow, one of Memphis' top high school football players, will wear different colors for the 2024 season.
The four-star former Germantown athlete is transferring to Melrose where he'll play for his father Jarrett Morrow and uncle Gerald Morrow, who will jointly lead the Golden Wildcats. The twin brothers โ members of Melrose's last state title team in 1998 โ take over for coach Derrick Bobo who finished 8-4 last season.
Jamarion Morrow, who committed to Missouri last month, is ranked as the fifth-best player in Tennessee's 2025 class per 247Sports Composite. He'll be a key piece to Melrose's success on the field, but also in shifting the culture of the program, a point of emphasis for the new coaches.
Making sure to note that he was speaking with his coach hat on, Jarrett Morrow described his son as an "humble star," a high-character kid with incredible work ethic and leadership ability.
"He's the hardest working kid I've ever been around and I've seen a lot of people," Jarrett Morrow said. "He goes 100 miles per hour every play. Extremely hard working. Extremely focused."
With Germantown last season, Morrow gained 1,212 all-purpose yards and scored 12 touchdowns, earning a spot on The Commercial Appeal's All-Metro second team. On defense, he recorded 24 tackles, four interceptions and three pass breakups. Germantown finished with a 12-1 record, falling to eventual state champions Houston in the state quarterfinal round.
The Morrow family has lived in the Orange Mound community for generations. Jamarion grew up walking across the street from his grandmother's house to watch Melrose play football.
Jarrett Morrow was previously an assistant with Melrose and knew he had to have his son with him when the opportunity to lead the program arose.
"He grew up embedded in that community," Jarrett Morrow explained. "It was a no-brainer (to transfer) once Melrose started back winning. It's our family history."
Jarrett Morrow remembers the love and community in Orange Mound when he and his brother were growing up. People of all ages cheered on the team as it walked to the stadium on game days.
As time has passed, Jarrett Morrow says things have changed some. Alongside his brother and with the help of his son, he hopes to build a family centered on brotherhood and faith and bring Melrose another state championship.
"He's a great leader," Jarrett Morrow said of Jamarion. "He just so happens to be my son."
Jamarion Morrow has spearheaded player-only summer practices during the dead period along with Jaden Jones, another Germantown transfer and Orange Mound product.
"They're bought in already. It's gonna be a special year," Morrow said.

Not sure what "official offer" means, but we've given some out, so I'll post them.
