See, I guess this is where I disagree. If we're realistic, FBS is minimum 5 years away for us, and I'd argue that it's closer to 10 years than 5. That's a long time to stay in a conference that isn't to our benefit. Getting into the right conference could help to build our fanbase and allow us to take care of other in-house cleaning while we prepare for FBS. I understand your point, and it is valid. But I can name 3 FBS teams that transitioned from the OVC. Which conference do you recommend that has a track record of successfully aiding in the transitioning schools from FCS (1AA) to FBS. Fan base is not the only factor, and if the move up is successful you better not depend on the fans base of the visiting universities let alone the fans of the conference you are moving away from. Fair points. I don't claim to know which conference will be the "right one" for TSU, although I have my preference (which likely isn't on the table anymore at this point). When I say it's going to take time, the difference in us and those other schools is that we do not offer the minimum number of sports, the minimum number of scholarships, the minimum amount of scholarship money, nor draw the minimum attendance required to move to FBS. Those things are going to take time, so if a better situation happens to exist, I don't see why a goal that's 5-10 years away should stop us from making a move to a better conference in the meantime.
